chesapeake: NO SMOKING!! - 10/24/07 04:43 AM
First its' no cursing, blocking intersections, no feeding the birds, no watering and now its no smoking.  Norfolk city council is the first in the state to ask for a ban on smoking in restaurants.  The city of Virginia Beach is expected to follow.  Guess we are in some kind of a health crisis.  Second hand smoke is a pain and we don't go to places that are small and allow smoking ourselves which means most bars are out of bounds.  Whats next? … (2 comments)

chesapeake: Fax to Email Service - 10/22/07 10:24 AM
Anyone have a good fax to email service.  I am looking for a service that can take a fax from my fax machine and turn it into an email attachement as well as one that will let someone else send a fax to email.  I also need to be able to send the fax from my computer.
I have looked online but I can find a service where I can fax from a fax machine to email but not from my computer.

chesapeake: I Know Where The Buyers Went - 09/25/07 06:13 AM
I was walking this morning and came upon some shrubs by the Rite-Aid.  There were local real estate magazines laying around.  I looked to see why they might have been there and saw tons of these webs with holes in them.  All I can think of is that the spider creatures pulled the unsuspecting buyer into his lair as they were reading through the fat real estate books and not paying attention to what was happening.  This could also be the portal to the looking glass and they could be with Alice.

chesapeake: ETHANOL PLANT OPINIONS ARE OPPOSITES - 07/18/07 10:26 AM
A group citizens and city officials from Portsmouth and Chesapeake made a visit to two ethanol plants in Wisconsin.  Some said it was purtrid and sickening.  Some of the officials thought it wasn't that bad.  Of course these plants were ten times smaller then the plant proposed for Chesapeake so comparasons may not be possible and the technology is five years old.  Of course to me smelly is still smelly.

chesapeake: Field Trip - 07/11/07 01:08 PM
The powers that be want to know if an ethanol plant will smell so they are taking a field trip to the midwest to find out.  The plants are nowhere near the size that will be built in Chesapeake but hopefully the officials will find some answers.  Stay tuned. … (0 comments)

chesapeake: Flow Control - 06/29/07 03:04 AM
Sounds like something for your bladder but it is actually a term used in the world of garbage.  This is wordage is so important it may just save SPSA from going under.  It is the practice of localities telling people where they have to take their garbage.  Private collectors would have to use SPSA locations and transfer stations as well as pay tipping fees.  This practice was outlawed but our new high court has brought it back.  Seems like a negative thing for most of us but for SPSA it will be a positive.  Lets hope SPSA can get out of its … (0 comments)

chesapeake: Virginia Beach Park Spruced Up - 06/21/07 05:07 AM
A secluded park just off Laskin Rd is getting a face lift courtesy of Virginia Beach Public Schools.  The Beach Garden Park will get some multipurpose fields, playground equipment, picnic shelters and and all the rest.  The students at Virginia Beach Middle School will use the fields while they await their new school to be built over the next two years.  It should be quite nice when finished. … (1 comments)

chesapeake: Lotus Creek - 06/12/07 12:51 PM
Lynwood Powell didn't play a lot of golf but when he moved into his house in Lotus Creek, a luxury golf course community in Virginia Beach, he's ready for his game to take off.
Lotus Creek is located next Lago Mar and the Hell's Point Golf Club, just off Sandbridge Rd and Atwoodtown Road. The community with single-family condominium ownership has 45 homes. Considered off-the-beaten track, most people don't know it's there unless they stumble upon it.
The semi-custom homes were built by Beco Construction and Chesapeake Atlantic Development.
Not only are you close to Sandbridge Beach but the oceanfront is not far away.  … (0 comments)

chesapeake: About Rock Creek - 06/01/07 12:12 PM
The neighborhoods around the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater, including Rock Creek, have grown so much in recent years that Landstown High School opened in 2001 to help accommodate that population increase.
The community is approached from Princess Anne and Salem roads, and is near both interstates 64 and 264, as well as Ferrell Parkway. City services are nearby, as the Virginia Beach Municipal Center is a short drive up Princess Anne Road. Pungo, Sandbridge, Lynnhaven and the Oceanfront are all close by, providing recreation, shopping, and employment accessibility.
