Seems like we were just talking about the beginning of warm weather and summer pursuits ... 
 
But here we are ... already putting pumpkins, cornstalks, and fall mums out to decorate our homes.  
 
Yes, it's hard to believe, but Fall has officially arrived and colder temperatures can't be too far behind.

Fall is right around the corner in Will County, IL ... 
 
You can feel it in the air at night.  There's a new "crispness" to it.  The hours of sunlight are fewer.  Leaves are turning in color and already beginning to fall to the ground.
 
Yes ... Fall in Will County means many wonderful things ...  
 
Pumpkin farms are opening.  Fall festivals are already being held in many Will County communities.  Corn stalks are cropping-up on front porches, lamp posts, and mailbox posts.  
 
Scarecrows, ghosts, witches, and goblins of all shapes and sizes will soon be revealed … (6 comments)

There's a new crispness to the air.  The hours of sunlight are fewer.  The night temperatures are cooler. 
And of course, that means wonderful things like pumpkin farms, fall festivals, corn mazes, haunted houses, scarecrows, spooky ghosts, witches, and goblins of all shapes and sizes are cropping up everywhere.

The Fall season offers us cooler days and nights to enjoy our homes.  Golden hues of sunlight and colorful falling leaves. The celebration of friendship around warm outdoor fires.

     You'd never know it now, but the 4 major feeder-towns that make up the Lincoln-Way area of Will County, Illinois (Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Manhattan) were pretty rural in nature not that long ago.  What were once small and quiet villages, are now filled with newly constructed homes, bustling with traffic, and filled with nationally-known franchises that spill into where corn fields once stood. 
     Manhattan ... where I grew up, was the smallest of these Lincoln-Way area towns.  Located at the southern-most tip of this region, it remains the smallest of the towns still today and perhaps retains the most nearby farmland.
