With all of the negativity directed towards Arizona, there is a lot of praise for the state as well. Despite boycotts, depleted government funds, and one of the nation's tougher economic climates, two Valley cities have been named in the top 100 "Best Places to Live" by Money Magazine.
While not placing in the rankings last year, Gilbert jumped up to 36th and Scottsdale moved to 71st. Both cities were hailed for shopping, dining, crime levels, schools, and economic conditions. Money evaluated 746 cities with a population between 50,000 and 300,000. The complete list appears in the magazine's August issue.
