potomac falls: So how are those Foreclosure rates..? - 06/25/09 01:16 AM
The good news?  Virginia is not one of the states with the top foreclosure rates in the country, nor is Maryland or the District of Columbia.  Who is? In May 2009, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that the states with the highest foreclosure rates were California, Florida, Arizona, and Nevada.  While these four states only represent about 18% of the nation's population, they carry about 46% of the nation's total number of homes in foreclosure. Why these four states? Because they suffered the largest drop in price drops when the market fell, forcing home owners that bought in the … (0 comments)

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department would like to share these helpful safety tips to help protect yourself while enjoying outdoor activities.
Always be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are. Never feel that you are unsusceptible to an attack. Stay in groups. A group of people are less vulnerable then one individual just by themselves. Be sure to tell someone where you are going and what time you will be back. If plans change, make sure you let that person know. Always carry your cell phone and some type of picture ID with you. Limit outdoor activities to daylight … (0 comments)

Check all windows & doors and make sure they are locked and secure. Make sure all vehicles left behind are secure with no electronics, money, or garage door openers are in sight. Mow the lawn and clean up the yard before you leave (mowed grass is a strong indicator of whether or not a home is occupied). Have a neighbor you can trust look over your property while you are away. potomac falls: Interest Rates on the Rebound? - 04/21/09 09:27 AM
We all know over the past 4 years, fixed interest rates have been on a wild roller coaster. Starting out at 5.72% in November of 2004, they peeked during July of 2006 at 7.03%, and hit rock bottom at the end of March 2009 to 4.78%.
Currently interest rates are at 4.86% and are continuing to climb. What does this all mean? If you are thinking of buying and haven't purchased a home of your own already, NOW is the time to buy. Take advantage of this great opportunity before it's gone!

potomac falls: Why RENT when you can BUY? - 04/20/09 04:55 AM

Unlike a car, a home actually increases in value over it's lifetime and the location of the home is the biggest determinant of how fast your home will appreciate over … (0 comments)
