Sellers and Realtors: Staging Education, Part Three,  Decluttering
Part of my role as a professional home stager is to educate Home Sellers and Real Estate Agents about the realities of Home Staging.  Watching home staging programs on TV frequently misleads viewers and does not often impart the details of how a professional stager works and how the staging process plays out.
In the Fresno, Clovis and Madera foothill and mountain communities the housing market remains a very strong Buyers market.  I have heard many stories of buyers getting homes for 40-50% of the value that was established for them 2-3 years ago.  Many sellers are underwater … (11 comments)

oakhurst: Get out of that damp, dreary, gray FOG. You need the sunshine! - 01/03/10 03:07 AM

Get out of that damp, dreary, gray FOG.  You need the sunshine!
Living in the Central San Joaquin Valley always brings the fog this time of year...but  you needn't endure it day after day.  Head to the local mountains and be warmed by the sunshine. Take your sunglasses out and use them.
Take Highway 41 (southern route), Highway 120 (northern route) or Highway 140 (central route) and climb out of the gray and into the blue.

If driving up Highway 41, you will usually break out of the fog at about elevation 1500' or where Road 200 (to North Fork) meets the highway.

oakhurst: PLEASE...at least paint! - 05/05/09 07:36 AM

If you are selling your home or just looking for a fresh update, you must consider painting.
Those white walls that you've been living with have no personality and no warmth.
Look at the difference in these before and after photos.
Nothing was changed in the home EXCEPT for the paint color.

This homeowner wanted a simple, quick change and paint was the answer.
She called Dream Interior Redesign and Staging for a color consultation and we selected a warm neutral.
Now the white trim, shutters, fireplace, furnishings and artwork feel more showcased.

oakhurst: Lance Armstrong and the Amgen tour comes to Oakhurst and North Fork - 02/20/09 03:40 AM
LIVE STRONG, we've all seen and/or purchased the yellow bracelets, but this week my husband and I plus thousands of others in California got to experience the AMGEN bike tour, up close and personal.
We were volunteers for the race and I got to stand in the middle of the highway to direct the bikers on a major turn from highway 49 to highway 41.  The only problem was it all went by SO-O fast.  When they reached Oakhurst they were all bunched up, so from start to finish it took about 4 seconds for them to pass by.  The breakaways … (7 comments)

oakhurst: Overcoming sellers' objections - 04/30/08 02:18 PM
Realtors, how many times have you taken a listing thinking you could convince the sellers to make some necessary changes to their house and you came to realize that this wasn't going to be easy?  In fact it might be almost impossible?  This is a recurring problem that I keep hearing from agents.
Sellers object to change for many different reasons: economic, personal, and emotional.  If you cannot convince them that the change is necessary, have you considered enlisting the help and advice of a professional stager?
A Professional Stager with kind persistence, can help you and the sellers over these hurdles.
Here are some … (12 comments)

oakhurst: Mountain paradise in the CA Sierras!....SOLD!!! - 11/17/07 05:51 AM
My latest staging project was SO-O much fun.  Great sellers, willing to haul furnishings back to their now vacant home.  House when emptied when their last RE agent told them that staging was a waste of time.  There was NO interest in the house when it was empty.  One showing in 6 months.  So now they have a new agent, the house is staged and I'm really pleased with the results.
A year round creek (in CA thats rare) rumbles below the house which is more like a tree house.  Grand picture windows, built upon huge granite boulders. Taking a break while staging … (10 comments)

oakhurst: MY FIRST WAS MY BEST...so far, - 08/03/07 08:26 AM

My first full-on staging job, in my new location, is still my very best yet.  Superb clients that listened and worked for 2 months to get the house market ready.
The house sold in less than a week to the second person that saw it.  Staging Helps Sell Houses.
