staging: Updating needed and achieved - 10/29/09 03:53 AM
When these property owners contacted my company, and I saw this kitchen, my first response was...."what's with this lighting?"  The owners response was, "every unit in the building is like this and they have been like this for 30 years."  In the past, renting this unit was easy but this time it had been sitting on the rental market for 4 months.  Change was in order.  They hired Dream Interior Redesign and Staging to update, stage and make it right for today's rental market.
It took us three days to remove that plastic and aluminum fluorescent contraption, rewire, paint, install new lighting, add cabinet hardware and crown molding on the cabinets.  For three days … (24 comments)

staging: FIRE DANGER, please be aware. - 04/25/08 12:48 PM
I'm sure that many of you have received the same e-mail warning as I have.  PLUG-IN air fresheners can cause fires.
Sorry but I did not save this e-mail which had been forwarded many, many times so I was thinking that everyone has already seen this.  I don't recall if it specified a brand, but since I live with a retired firefighter I asked if he thought this was plausible.  Oh yeah, was his response.  The e-mail also noted that a firefighter indicated that this is a recurring problem today.
Then I remembered the blog post here on AR regarding a … (18 comments)

staging: Mountain paradise in the CA Sierras!....SOLD!!! - 11/17/07 05:51 AM
My latest staging project was SO-O much fun.  Great sellers, willing to haul furnishings back to their now vacant home.  House when emptied when their last RE agent told them that staging was a waste of time.  There was NO interest in the house when it was empty.  One showing in 6 months.  So now they have a new agent, the house is staged and I'm really pleased with the results.
A year round creek (in CA thats rare) rumbles below the house which is more like a tree house.  Grand picture windows, built upon huge granite boulders. Taking a break while staging … (10 comments)

staging: The Ultimate STAGING! - 10/28/07 11:27 AM
If Craig wants to delete this blog...I understand and will not be hurt...but I just have to share this with all of my AR friends and don't want to miss anyone.
Just returned from a fantastic trip to the Mediterranean and must share just this one photo.  This was taken in Rome in the old forum area, just across from the Coliseum.  Standing on a hill across from this location, it appeared that the columns were translucent and everyone was fascinated on how marble columns could have this appearance.  We just surmised that it was the evening sun that was fooling our … (20 comments)

staging: 2 offers 1st day, whoopee! - 08/11/07 08:24 AM
Dream Interior Redesign and Staging was called in to stage this cape code on a serious budget. This house had been vacant and on the market for 3 months.  I had to use only the owner's furnishings but I could add my accessories and artwork.  She had all antiques and none were in very good condition.  The agent that hired me stopped in afterwards, with clients looking for a higher-end home and they wrote an offer.  The next agent in wrote another offer.  This doesn't happen in today's market, 2 OFFERS in the first day.
I doubt that these before and after photos will make it into my portfolio.  … (18 comments)

staging: VITAL Health reading for all women...please pass it on. Men share with ladies. - 07/24/07 02:15 PM
I received this e-mail last night from a friend that is a nurse and I'm changing my ways.  I'm sure that many of you also do this and now WHY take the chance.  I'm bringing out the old thermos...if it's not too rusty. For warned is forearmed.
Here's what the e-mail said:
I don't know how true is this - .................Bottled Water Kept in CarThis is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer she was on the Ellen show and Shesaid this same exact thing. So please be very careful ladies. The doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been … (3 comments)

staging: Realtors, Take Summer Photos NOW...prepare for winter! - 07/07/07 04:09 AM
Often when I stage a home in the depths of winter the clients tell me about how beautiful their yard is in the summer.  Being a visual person I can picture what they're describing but can potential buyers?  Probably not.  Therefore, I suggest that if the have photos of their yard in the summer that it would be great to make some photo flyer's to have available to buyers that visit the home.  Unfortunately, the response if often...OH we don't really have any good ones.  Potential is lost.
SO, why not have your listing clients do that now. Or you do it now or the stager … (6 comments)
