ginger harper of southport: Beautiful Sunset Tonight over the Creek

I do thank GOD for the sunsets that we have here at our home. WE are located on Beaver Dam Creek in Southport North Carolina. Beaver Dam is a tidal creek and we enjoy the tides with brackish water. Many different kinds of fish are in the creek and it is most delightful to catch puppy drum or flounder off the end of the dock, come in and fix a seafood dinner.
WE need to all, smell the roses, watch the sunsets and enjoy one another.

Monday, Monday, Can't stand that Day.... Not true, I love Mondays and start with great anticipation of the events of the week. I know that Spring will be here in just a few weeks and the weather is already getting warm and flowers are blooming and bees are a buzzin'... Wow! What a glorious day.... Temperatures in the high 70's. Sunbathing weather on the Oceanfront.
Last night, we sat on the dock and enjoyed the sunset and the peacefulness of the day.
Came inside to enjoy sauteed fresh shrimp right off of the boat. How lucky are we?

You know how it is ..
After Church..comes Grandma day. We had a delightful meal with all of the family and the, it was clean up time.
Then when all settles down, we get to do the things that really mean something.
First the Lincoln Logs come out and a city is built.. (with the help of parents)...then we go to the front yart to have a little batting practice...(5 year old is doing baseball this year). We are helping with Spring training.
For Sunday Dinner we had:
Fried chicken
Rice and Gravy
Corn
Butterbeans
Stringbeans
Rolls and Butter

It is a wonderful movie that Shows our town so well..

Good evening, I wanted to share with YOU the the events of our day.
After getting up and going to church our family came over for a typical Sunday Dinner.
Today we fed the family with:
Nice Roast Beef, Rice and Gravy
Field peas
Corn
Rolls
Broccoli and butter
Sweet tea
and a homemade Yellow cake with chocolate icing
Now that we are retirement age, some of us have the time to spend that extra special time with the grandchildren.
We are Blessed to have these precious time with them...

I know that we are called the Baby Boomers and that our children are most likely a part of the X Generation but I get lost after that. Just the other week I received and email that told of all of these things that were not invented when I was a child and I am NOT that OLD. But there were not computers in our homes, no cell phones and the TV that we had as children were these monstrous boxes with a little black and white screens and hard to see. I have joined the contest of getting healthy in 2013 and had been doing so well with it.
I have been watching my caloric intake, drinking plenty of water, exercising every day and doing so very good until I came down iwth a head cold on Tuesday. Nose is stopped up and I can't breathe, I am coughing all the time and running a bit of fever.
This cold has set me back a few days, but I am still focused on what my goal is.
Getting health in 2013.

I am committed..
Today, I can not go to the regular gym so I will be doing a work out in a strange new place. That is ok. It does not matter where you work out...it matters that you DO work out.
I will do the same thing tomorrow. The weekends are a bit different because of activities of the family. This will be good to get a different slant on things.
Hope you are feeling the success that I feel (in my mind) right now.

Beautiful day in Southport but we did not leave the house.
After returning home from a 7 day cruise, we needed our Children and Grandchildren around us to love on.
So..I got up at 9:30 and prepared a wonderful Sunday Dinner for us all.
Our menu today was as follows:
Barbecued Pork County Cut Ribs
Barbecued Chicken
Stewed Potatoes
Corn we put up last summer
Butter beans
Sauteed Broccoli
Rice (for Marissa)
Parker House Rolls
Sweet Tea
Fresh BlueBerry Cobbler for Dessert..

Wondered if you all missed me any at all.
WE finally took a week off and went on that much needed vacation. Before we left, we felt, tired and battered....now..I feel rejuvenated and feel like to I go on and enjoy this Real Estate business that I Love.
Last year was a hard year, with the loss of our Daughter Meg. WE needed to come to grip with it and work thru it. This trip helped us so.
We took a 7 day cruise out of Fort Lauderdale and cruised to The Grand Turks, St Thomas, Puerto Rico, and Half Moon … (3 comments)

Yesterday after dinner; that consisted of Roast Beef and gravy, Rice, corn, Butterbeans, garden peas, fresh corn, rolls and butter, friendship cake and sweet ice tea. After Dinner, the two boys, Jonah and Joshua, went out to do build waterworks. First the dug a ditch in the drive way and devised a way to make the water run from top to bottom of the driveway. Messy but fun for them. I love it when they are so creative, ( We will fill in the ditch later) Great day to say the least. Ginger of Southport

Today is a blessed day....I am sitting calmly with Jimmy resting after the children and the grandchildren came over to open their Christmas presents...
There has been a lovely hum of excitement all through the house all day long.
For Dinner, we set the table with nibble foods....I baked a turkey and made rolls. Then pimento cheese and crackers, homemade french onion dip...(easy, I can give you the recipe)..homemade sausa and chips, our pickles, friendship cake, and a variety of candies and sweets.
At present, we are listening to the Messiah and resting from the events of the day.
