ginger harper: Blueberry Topping - 10/24/13 12:43 PM

Yesterday, my husband and I had to buy a new freezer and had to clean out the old one in  the process.  We came up with about 10 gallons of BlueBerries that we had picked over the past few year. Much too many to keep in the freezer.  Therefore, I decided to make BlueBery topping that works well on Ice Cream, Cake and Toast.
So last night I am cooked  them to make the topping, which consitst of the BlueBerries, Sugan, lemon juice and 1/2 stick of butter.  All you do then, is cook until they become thick.  Then  we put … (6 comments)

ginger harper: Fingers to Pray with - 10/04/13 01:27 PM
God Is Good..

This is so neat. This is beautiful - and it is surely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives
.1. Your thumb is nearest you.. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a 'sweet duty.'
2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep … (5 comments)

ginger harper: Southport, my home! - 09/20/13 11:56 AM

I love Southport...

Southport is one of the most beautiful and charming small towns in North Carolina.
Visitors flock to Southport's picturesque tree-lined streets to explore its many restaurants, shops, marina, yacht basin, waterfront & historic attractions. Hundreds of years ago, pirates & explorers visited the area.
Today, it's convenient location, where the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, & Cape Fear River meet, is still very popular with mariners of all types..Motor boat and Sailboat treasure these waters.
I have been a broker with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty has been a Southport resident for 32years and shares some of my favorite things … (4 comments)

We in Brunswick County, North Carolina are having a hard time feeding our needed.  We have food banks opened up to feel those in the County that are hungry.  There seems to be so many folks that are in need right now. I have gone to our church and we are asking for our congregation to help us fill up the shelves with food.
Today I picked up the food that our Coldwell Banker Sea Coast office has collected and took this food to the Collection point for our local food bank.   I do hope that the folks that are hungry will … (3 comments)

Fun time had by all
It is truly hard  to believe that I can be that old.  The main topic of conversation was "How is Your Health", "I had a hip replaced", "I had 3 stents put in"..(You get the picture)
There were 31 Class mates when I graduated from Tar Heel High School in 1966.  Small graduating class but some really good folks in it.
Around 12 class mates came to the pig pickin' and we  were served a Crab Boil and  fresh BBQ, Cole Slaw, Baked beans, and peach cobbler. So good....

ginger harper: Seven Brothers Served in World War ll - 09/07/13 12:43 AM

These are the Harper Brothers that served in World War ll.

Each one of these young men served in the war and all of them were sent over seas.   They are the Uncles of my husband, Jimmy.  His father is the man on the front row, kneeing on the left of this picture.
He served on a Merchant Marine Ship that was ill prepared for fighting a war at sea.  But he did live.  His Brother, Derward was not so lucky.  He was shot down and killed over France.
Can you image, being a Mother and … (5 comments)

ginger harper: Getting close to 500,000 points - 08/20/13 11:45 AM

I can not believe that I am getting close to 500,000 point.  This has been true learning experience for me when I started with Active Rain in 2009.  I am not one of the STARS but I am persistent in my endeavors to learn more about this real estate business that I have chosen to be in for the past 32 years,

Just celebrated my 65th Birthday yesterday and want to continue to learn. I have always said that I am "an old dog that wants to learn new tricks"..

ginger harper: HOA Powers? Do they have too much? - 08/19/13 11:02 AM
Re-blogged by 0 agents
HOA seem to have too much power.. Have you ever heard of a condo association foreclosing on a condo and then buying it with dues of the owners?
We are having something like that going on here and I do not know who to go to for help.  I can't help but think that this is wrong.  Have rules changed....if they have, I feel that human decency has eluded us.
I have great concern for the folks that lost their unit even though they were trying to work out a payment schedule with the association.

ginger harper: What do you do with food stuff in a house that is closing? - 07/18/13 10:18 AM
Getting ready to close on a house today and there was food left in the cabinets that is unopened and bought recently.   There were canned goods, salt and pepper, oils, spices and other things that were perfectly good.
Do you think it is alright to give it to a food pantry, or church or salvation army to distribute to other that may be hungry.  I hate to just throw it away.
What would you do?

I Love WONDERFUL Wednesdays

At Trinity, our Church, we have Wonderful Wednesdays...a day when you can come to the church and enjoy great food and great company.
WE are very active and have a lot of good ministries that benefit other and our church.
Last week we have a representative of the National Audubon Society that gave a wonderful presentation regarding the birds in our area.  These birds inhabit one of our barrier island that we can see from our front porch.  This Island is named appropriately "Bird Island".
The Ibis and the Herons  and Pelican are … (2 comments)

ginger harper: Pulling Duty Time - 04/22/13 11:56 AM
Duty time is an opportunity to make a new connection.  The phone is ringing off the hook right now.  Does this mean that our market is stabilizing or coming back...
Well, I find myself having Duty time today.  (A better way to say Opportunity Time).  Actually I have been enjoying it.  It is the first exposure that your company makes when some one calls on the phone or walks through the door. We need to ponder that a minute.  What you say or do...the minute someone walks in or calls in is the first impression that those folks have of your company.
We need to … (6 comments)

ginger harper: Do your Open Houses work? - 04/17/13 07:05 AM

Dear ActiveRainers,
I held an Open House on Oak Island last week. It is a charming, affordable house that is very neat and clean.   It shows very well.  This house is only a few yards from the Ocean.     There is a lot of beautiful tile and hardwood floors through out. Stylish arched doorways with columns. WE do not see this standard of building along our coastal area of North Carolina.
Problem, there were only 20 or so agents to come out and view this house. Even with us offering gift cards and gifts and food. We served chicken salad croissants, … (4 comments)
