Tonight we will go and share in the awards program for the newspaper in the state of North Carolina.
This meeting will be held in the Alumni Center on Campus on UNC in Chapel Hill NC. (Very close to the Foot Ball field where the Tar Heels win a lot of Foot ball games.)
The meeting is always excellent and our own State Port Pilot will receive many awards for the excellence of our Newspaper. WE are a community newspaper in the coastal area of North Carolina. This is a retirement destination for many that want to escape the hustle and bustel … (2 comments)

Spring...Ah Wonderful Spring.
Today was the Birthday of my Grandson Jonah. He turned 11 years old today and I have watched him day to day...become a wonderful young man. Happy Birthday Jonah..
I am so glad that the sun is shining and the air is cool and fresh and the flowers are blooming...and the birds are singing.
This is my time of the year. I seem to bloom as the flowers do. Thank you Lord for them all.

It has been a full day with Uncle Jack, who is 90 years old.
My brothers annd I have been toodling around doing errands that he needs to do. It is so much fun to be with the Patriarch of the Family. He is so delightful to be with.
We took him to the Bass Pro Shop in Ft. Lauderdale and had a wonderful mean at the Isle of Merida..What fun..
Now we are doing haircuts and banking.
It is great to be loved by him.

Monday, Monday, Can't stand that Day.... Not true, I love Mondays and start with great anticipation of the events of the week. I know that Spring will be here in just a few weeks and the weather is already getting warm and flowers are blooming and bees are a buzzin'... Wow! What a glorious day.... Temperatures in the high 70's. Sunbathing weather on the Oceanfront.
Last night, we sat on the dock and enjoyed the sunset and the peacefulness of the day.
Came inside to enjoy sauteed fresh shrimp right off of the boat. How lucky are we?

Today was a great family day in the Harper Household on Beaver Dam Creek in Southport NC.
After a great sermon at our church in Southport, we came home to enjoy the Oven Fried Chicken, along with Rice and Gravy, Corn, Butterbeans, Sweet Potatoes, string beans, rolls and butter, sweet tea and homemade yellow cake with chocolate icing..
Such a treat...
Then the Grandchildren played for the better part of the afternoon..built forts, with blankets and chairs, and Barbee Dolls.
(Barbee and Ken's that must be 40 years old...(belonged to their parents)..)

I am going to take on this Challenge.
Several of us have been thinking about this for the past couple of week. Today I committed.
I have joined the Cape Fear Fitness Center in Southport NC. It is my plans to go and work out with my associates for about 45 minutes to one hour 4 times a week.
Today, I was weighed and measured. That was a real kicker for me but I am committed to do this and make it work.
My goal is to loose about 30 pounds and to tone up my body.

Tonight we were talking about the Ringing in of the New Year. We know that Australia and Hong Kong...celebrate the New Year many hours before we do on the East Coast.
At Midnight, the Big Ball Drops and Hurrah..Happy New Year in Times Square.
Do the folks in other Time Zones have their own celebration according to their time where they live.

POLAR DIPPING TOMORROW~
For the past 3 years, we have had our Annual Polar Dip. What great fun..
For Dinner, we have the Tradiditon New Years Day Dinner, with Baked Pork, Black Eyed Peas, Colllards, Corn, Rice, Cornbread, Sweet Tea, and Friendship Cake.
After we take a family picture on the porch, we head for Long Beach to the Cabana's to have our Annual Polar Plunge.
If you really want to get a good start to the year, you must have your heart pumping really well. LOL

Well...Today is the 2ost of December and I think I may go shopping for the first time tomorrow. My Motto has always been. Why do today what you can do tomorrow... Therefore, I think that I go to town and shop for the 40 folks that I want to share gifts with.
Any advice...What does one buy for the Husband that has everything...and if he doesn't...gets it when he wants it....Or our 16 year old Grandson that is 6'6" and 325 pounds? I seem to be getting more BPO's lately and they are getting harder to please. I am giving them data from our MLS and they are still wanting more. How can I give them more when I am giving them the FACTS. How do you come up with a Comparable sale when nothing has sold. YOu can't ..You can't make it up. I think that the requirements have to take this in to consideration. WE spend a lot of time and energy trying to please them, but if the facts do not support...we have not control. spent our time and energy … (3 comments)

Tonight we have the finale of the Charles Dickens Festival in Southport, North Carolina.
I was a volunteer at the Amuzu Theatre where the actors were preforming skits of different Dickens stories. WE have a lot of talented folks that live in the area and we were so pleasantly surprised by this performance.
This Thretre will only hold 112 folks...we have about 200 lined up for the 6:00 show and had to turn many away. Same thing happened for the 7:00 show. WE should have had at least 4 performances to be accommodating to the folks that wanted to … (0 comments)

This year has been a lot better than I have anticipated.
Is it going to be a good year for us in 2013?
Seems like I have been working harder than ever trying to maintain a level of business that allows me to succeed and grow my business in 2013. I find that it is harder and harder to obtain and maintain my market share in Brunswick County. My goal is to stay on the 1st page of agents. I think I am #54 for the county with about 750 agents. Guess that is not that bad.

Today, I was invited to a Realtor, Partner discussion of the different financing that are available for our area of North Carolina.
There were professionals our community that were there to discuss different projects and needs for the folks.
The panel was led by the Loan officers from First Citizens Bank. The taught us of several programs that will serve a variety of needed of buyers.
WE learned about:
VA
FHA
Conventional
USDA
HOP
and a few others that I found to be very interesting.

This day started out a bit unclear but as the morning went on, I found myself at a board meeting with other bankers and Realtor's to discuss the housing industry and what we can do to make it better. No solutions were met but a lot of great discussion took place and I am excited to learn more.
Next, I found out that two of my precious grandchildren were in the emergency rooms with high fevers...so off to the hospital I go...to see what a Grandmother love can do to make things better.

WE have had another memory making day today.
After Church, we had 15 of the family to come to dinner for Nice Roast Beef, Rice and Gravy, Butterbeans, Corn, Garden Peas, Rolls, Sweet Tea and then a variety of Pies and Cakes from Thanksgiving.
Three of the family left to go back to their homes. I miss then already.
Guess it is time for me to get started with the Washing and Cleaning that has to take place after the 25 folks that we had her for Thanksgiving Dinner.
