real estate: How Does A Sunrise Influence Real Estate - 03/31/17 04:04 AM
Real Estate and Sunrises Have A Lot In Common

Well what comes up must come down may be the easiest explanation.  The highs and lows of the day whether in a brillant sunrise as this picture shows can mirror how sellers present their homes.  This weather is bringing wicked RI weather to us by afternoon.  One can usually tell by the sunrise.
What is important in real estate is that sellers recognize the highs and lows ( peaks and valleys in selling with the market).  If the buyers are searching for the price level of home you offer, the volume of the buyers … (11 comments)

real estate: Who Turned the Real Estate Faucet On? - 04/16/16 10:16 PM
Who Turned the Real Estate Faucet On?

It is running hot water from the real estate tap of water right now...here in RI real estate and other states.  This is a great rebound for us in Rhode Island where home buyers are struggling to find a house that meets their need due to slim inventory.  Not only that the home buyers are lined up 30 deep to see the same home!  As a real estate agent with a number of buyers it is so difficult to win a home unless you are able to forgo all contingencies...as a listing agent well you … (10 comments)

Real Estate and Vacation Do They Mix?

Yes in many cases real estate and vacation do mix when you are vetting properties for clients, improving your knowledge base and then soaking up the sun.  It was my get away (did you notice I really was absent on my blogs!) with great coverage at home of my listings and it was needed downtime.

It is a paradise that Florida offers to all and they are proud of it for sure.  The real estate buys are tough to find but they are there.  Personally there is nothing like the oceanfront!  I love learning how the … (8 comments)

real estate: Positive Thinking in Real Estate - 06/23/15 08:38 PM
Positive Thinking in Real Estate

Depending upon who you work for in real estate, cultures play a big part of how you think in real estate.  Life sure has changed but cultural differences do make a difference from your upbringing to now.  I can certainly say that in a past career when I was hired in the financial services industry, I found out that I was worth less than a man.  My male boss told me this one time even though he had fought the human resource director on it.  It was the way it was in the organization but I never … (65 comments)

Meet Up Real Estate Group in Wilton CT
ActiveRain Happening May 14, 2015

The hostest with the mostest Dagny Eason hosted the largest spring meet up in CT for ActiveRainers as far away as Wisconsin with Bob Crane popping in for a visit.  Quite a crowd of wonderful people, great food, stunning location and thank you Mr. Weather for making it a great evening.

Even with all I had going on in Rhode Island real estate, it was worth the round trip drive to make it to this AR meeting...I so enjoy all these people who are the best and brightest of the real … (18 comments)

real estate: Home Buyers Need to Understand the Cost of Home Ownership - 04/09/15 09:22 PM
Home Buyers Need to Understand the Cost of
Home Ownership

Nothing new that real estate agents and lenders have not discussed with home buyers before but it needs to be repeated again and again.  Many home buyers are looking at homes they really can not afford to buy when you look at the home maintenance items that need to be done in the next year or two.  Being aware and talking about these items with home buyers is essential.

Why wait until you get and spent the money on a home inspection before you get unsettled about buying a home?

Start at the … (60 comments)

real estate: When a Move In Ready Home is a Real Dump What Then? - 03/15/15 09:12 PM
When a Move In Ready Home is a Real Dump What Then?

Some real estate agents should be in the circus at some point and know the difference between a good performance and one that stinks I feel.  Why write a glowing blurb on a home that is falling apart everywhere!   Perhaps something like this scenario should be written in the description:  Home in private neighborhood very neglected, falling down and is crying out for your help.  That would sum up this home and still be generous in description.  It truly was a dump with lots of potential.   … (33 comments)

real estate: What Kind of Real Estate Agent Are You? King or Jester - 02/15/15 10:52 PM
What Kind of Real Estate Agent Are You?  King or Jester

Real estate agents come in all shapes, sizes, authoritative or strictly comical to the detriment of their home sellers.  Yes, it infuriates me to see how some listing agents become the jester of the moment once they have the property listed and under contract.  They feel their commission and reward (might I say pound of flesh) will be evidenced at some point by not doing enough to represent their seller or facilitate the closing.

Our jobs are fiduciary and sales in nature.  But the trust should make us … (41 comments)

How Soon They Forget You in Real Estate
It is like so many businesses that are 'sales' businesses when you are present, work smartly and on your game, the business flows.  So it is so true in real estate when you step out of the arena, your name wafts along and dissipates in the air.  How soon they forget you in real estate it is said!   I am sure as more of us realize the realities of age and time passing (no matter how much we love our business), the personal side of free time, adventure & traveling takes … (23 comments)

Antiques and Homes | How to Mix the RI Real Estate Pot
When you are blending or melding your hobbies with your work, you hope there is some good result that comes out of it.  For years I went to auctions to collect pottery and search for antiques I loved.  I read everything I could on the subject and talked to the best dealers in the field.  At auctions, others were very sharing of their knowledge and I learned from them.
Truthfully I do not remember why I started going to auctions at all.  I dragged my then boyfriend to … (24 comments)

real estate: What do Tomatoes and Ginny Have in Common? - 11/08/12 07:43 PM
What do Tomatoes and Ginny Have in Common?   Alright first thing is they are red and I love the color red.  Yes, I'm basically red...my outfits lean in that direction - some say it is a good hot color.  One of the guys in my office said if he saw a girl at a bar when he went out with a red outfit on he would immediately go up to her and would start a hot conversation with her.  Bizarre conversations this week have come my way.  Okay, I said but I'm not going anywhere with you.  So is that … (18 comments)

real estate: Are You the Engine or the Caboose? - 01/18/12 10:17 PM
Are You the Engine or the Caboose?  In life sometimes roles are formulated for us in society early on  ...you are a follower or a starter...the engine or the caboose in life.  I want to say that Richard Weisser photos about train engines got me to thinking about my role in my real estate career.
See I was rarely the leader growing up.   No, in fact I was the follower until my banking career made me realize that the men were getting all the plum promotions and the women were getting less pay and lack of recognition.  Having a mentor, which I had, who respected my … (42 comments)

real estate: Finding the Right Path in Real Estate for Senior Clients - 09/20/10 12:01 AM
No matter what your career may be you are bound to be touched by certain people's lives and struggles ...for me in real estate it is my senior clients who are alone and who need to find that right path.  So seniors who can be straightforward about their current true lives I will go the distance for in assisting them with transitions in real estate.                                                                                              I have been working with two single senior women for a long time who present a problem … (11 comments)

real estate: Music to My Ears...what's Yours in Life? - 05/16/10 01:37 AM
We all know the expression that something is "Music to my ears" when something good happens to us so I ask you what is music to your ears in life?  Do you know? So perhaps finding that achievement in your life is still out of reach but I believe it's there for anyone who believes in oneself.  So fire yourself up to discover what is the music to your ears whether you are in a profession such as real estate as I am or another one. Believe in yourself or allow someone close to you to believe in you and stretch … (3 comments)

Seven Moons Restaurant in North Kingstown RI .   They are located at 6900 Post Road, North Kingstown, RI just a quarter mile north of the Quonset entrance.
Now knowing local businesses and what they bring to real estate in the town of North Kingstown is part of my expertise and doing my real estate business well.  Many commercial businesses have been severely hurt by this recession.  So it is important to recognize the local businesses that bring jobs to North Kingstown and help sustain as well as add to the local economy.  Seven Moons is doing just that.

real estate: Realtor's Take on Earth Day 2010 in my Green Living RI Backyard - 04/22/10 12:08 AM
No soapbox speech for my Realtor's Take on Earth Day 2010 as I walk around my own green living RI backyard  but I walk the talk of being a green living realtor.  Probably alot of my belief in sustainable living came from going to the town landfill to drop the garbage off when I lived in more rural RI years ago.  Then hearing about the superfund sites that bordered and negatively impacted the real estate in the surrounding area forever. So in my green living RI backyard in Kingston, RI, I became a certified organic farmer on my 8 acres of land.  I was … (0 comments)
