homes for sale: Men don't listen! - 10/01/09 01:05 PM
Men don't listen!

We men always hear it but how much does it affect our Real Estate business?  I think a great deal.
Has your receptionist ever received a call where the caller wants to speak to a female Realtor?  If you don't know by now, you're missing the boat, because I can promise you it happens all the time. Men don't listen!
So what happens when a man is on "floor time" and a call like that comes in?  Most offices have certain times when one person receives all customer calls and walk-ins, during their "floor time."  Now if this … (4 comments)

Saturn:  The Death of GM's Unwanted Offspring --
Most people don't remember it, but Saturn was created as a means of preventing massive lawsuits!
Years ago, when General Motors was in its' heyday, there was a huge demand among its dealers and investors to expand.  G.M., as I recall, made committments and signed dealer agreements with many of its mega-dealers and other wealthy  investors with promises of a new vehicle to be produced.
I believe it was after a super-long period of promises and with threats of lawsuits that lasted over nine years that G.M. dare not wait any longer.  With … (0 comments)

Back to Baby Foot Lake near Grants Pass, Oregon
Last time we found this beautiful wilderness lake by taking what they call the ridge trail, which wound across and over the mountains and high above the enchanting mountain lake.  The previous blog included photos taken from the cliffs on the south and west sides of the lake.

We tried to make it down to the lake, but ended up stalled on a 300 foot high cliff.  Try as we might, we could not find a safe way down to Baby Foot.
This time, we used the lower route and … (1 comments)

Representing Both Sides - Dual Agency Fears in Grants Pass, OR
I am wrestling with myself as I ponder representing both sides in a transaction.
Even though it is legal to do so in Oregon, I recently sold one of my listings, and even though my buyers would not have minded, I told them I felt more comfortable in having an associate step in and represent them in making the offer and I split the buyer's side commissions.
I just could not see how I could do justice to my seller in trying to walk that fence.
It turned out to … (9 comments)

One More Reason To Move To Grants Pass, Oregon:
A little over an hour from Grants Pass reaches the fringe of the Klamath National Forest.
We drove on a series of gravel mountain roads until we were stopped by huge washed-out ravine that pronounced the road dead.
From there a trail leads up the mountain in a series of switchbacks that makes the going a lot more manageable.
Our path wound through the magnificent forests on trails made silent by the pine needles.  Not silent enough however for the ever present matre' des of the forests; the Jays.  They and the squirrels … (3 comments)

Another Reason to Relocate to Southern Oregon ---
If you have any clients even remotely thinking about moving to Oregon, I would like to invite them up here to look this country over.  I am making every effort to explore a different area each week.
My latest exploration to us to the wilderness once again.
The gold-mining town of Briggs, Oregon only lasted about two years until the miners' moved on in search of better gold fields.
The crude grave of Sam Brown lies atop a small knoll near the town-site.  His past clouded in rumor!  Was he shot, or hanged?

Let Me Help You Sell It Yourself in Grants Pass, Oregon!

More thoughts on FSBO's (For Sale By Owner.)

I'm sure you realize that in this present market, there is no room for trial and error.  Any trial made that does not succeed is a costly error!
If you have decided to sell, then make a total commitment to sell!
The best example I can think of is Hannibal's crossing of the Alps; after his armies and elephants had disembarked, and traveled a short distance, a rearward glance by the astonished troops revealed the entire fleet burning!  There was no … (0 comments)

homes for sale: WHY USE A REALTOR TO SELL YOUR HOME in Grants Pass, Oregon? - 08/27/09 01:58 PM
WHY USE A REALTOR  TO SELL YOUR HOME in Grants Pass, Oregon?
Why not go it alone and sell your house yourself?  Certainly you're smart enough!  All you need is an attractive sign, right?

Well, first I would ask what your primary reason is, and if the sole aim is to save money, forget it!  A very small percentage of sales are made by owners and as a Realtor, I certainly wish a person luck in their efforts, but look at what you really save:  Most all FSBO's (for sale by owners) are willing to pay a selling Realtor if … (1 comments)

Tips For Selling Your Home in Grants Pass, Oregon
Before moving to Grants Pass, Oregon in the fall of 2008, and before my real estate career began, my wife and I sold our home in Beaverton, Oregon.  The broker we listed with told us some things we needed to do to make the house easier to sell, which really was uncomfortable to us at the time.  He told us we needed to make the home look like a model home as much as we could.  So we decided to follow his recommendations to the letter.  We packed over half of our … (0 comments)
