norfork lake: Memorial Day, What is it to You? - 05/26/11 08:52 AM
Memorial Day, What is it to You?  I was raised in the Mid-West and then here in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  A Holiday like Memorial Day is important to most of the people that I know.
My Dad, Duane Howard, served Our country during The Korean Conflict.  Officially a Police Action.  Thousands of Americans Served and paid the ultimate price fighting for their country.  My dad was by his own statement, a lucky man.  He served in Korea, and came home to start a family.  Memorial Day, What is it to You?
There will be parades for the holiday, and there will be … (5 comments)

norfork lake: Stop the Rain!!!! - 04/28/11 12:32 AM
Stop the Rain!!!!   Ok, Please stop the rain.  Here in the Northern Arkansas area of the Ozark Mountains we have received roughly 15 inches of rain in less than a week.
We kept our mouths shut the first few days...after all, the good folks in Texas are fighting wild fires, and we were actually in a bit of a drought.
Stop the Rain!!!!  Our crystal clear waters of Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Norfork look more like chocolate milk right now than trophy bass producers.  Lake Norfork has risen over  23. 24 feet in less than a week!  The lakes were built to … (6 comments)

norfork lake: Twin Lakes Area Landmark - 08/12/10 10:57 AM
Twin Lakes Area Landmark!  I have lived here in the Mountain Home area for 40 years.  I don't remember this landmark not being there on state highway 5, just north of Midway Arkansas, which lies between beautiful Bull Shoals Lake and beautiful Norfork Lake.  I did not zoom the photo to show the address clearly.  It is actually an address in Waukeegan Il.  Quite appropriate for this beautiful retirement area, as a lot of the residents here moved to this area from the upper mid-west.
When I tell people how to find the 4 1/2 acres that i have for sale next … (0 comments)

norfork lake: Never a bad day to ride! - 07/25/10 09:21 AM
Never a bad day to ride!  After all the work to help with the benefit for the food basket's back pack program, the fun part was the 80 mile ride.  My wife was tied up with some other stuff so she did not ride along this time.  Approx 100 bikes made our way through Mountain Home with a police escort...ya can't just go out the highway....ya gotta have some attention!  We rode south out of town to the charming town of Calico Rock (a future post) turned back east to the wide spot in the highway known as Pineville, then further east … (2 comments)

norfork lake: Head for the Hills - 02/11/10 01:04 PM
I had the opportunity to pass along a possible referral this morning to another professional in a nearby state.  I really hate to see these folks leave the area.  The Mountain Home, Arkansas area is famous as a retirement destination and I have the good fortune of finding folks Lake Homes, River Homes and Golf Community Homes. The tough part is when newfound friends have to move for one reason or another.  I will post a photo of their beautiful home overlooking Norfork Lake when I get the listing pulled together.  Head for the Hills of North Central Arkansas, specifically the … (1 comments)
