2022 market: What’s Happening with Mortgage Rates, + Where Will They Go from Here?

Based on the Primary Mortgage Market Survey from Freddie Mac, the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage has increased by 1.2% (3.22% to 4.42%) since January of this year. The rate jumped by more than a quarter of a point from just a week ago. Here’s a visual to show how mortgage rate movement throughout 2021 was steady compared to the rapid increase in mortgage rates this year:
Just a few months ago, Freddie Mac projected mortgage rates would average 3.6% in 2022. Earlier this month, Fannie Mae forecast mortgage rates would average 3.8% in 2022. As the chart above shows, rates have already surpassed those projections.

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Zoo has a new African lion.
Boboo (pronounced Ba-Boo), a 3 1/2-year-old male African lion, arrived at the Phoenix Zoo on Sunday, March 10 from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio.

New property listings have come in fits and starts this home buying season. From late Winter into the beginning of Summer the Real Estate market sprinted ahead at a rapid pace, with homes priced at $220,000 and under flying off the shelf. It wasn’t unusual this past Spring, to see multiple offers and bidding wars for homes in the first-time-buyer range. Throwback to Aprill 2018
There’s a bit of a fracas brewing in Arizona’s Real Estate market but that’s nothing unusual for this time of year, in fact Arizona perfectly reflects similar activity throughout the country. Low resale inventory, sluggish turn-times for New Construction homes, low interest rates gradually evaporating, and a steady stream of home buyers entering the market indicate that Spring has truly sprung. Bidding wars, though not commonplace yet, are most definitely on the horizon.
