There are several valuable data points contained within comScore’s 2010 Mobile Review, but the one that hit home with me involves ‘social networking ecosystems’. The first few sections of the report illustrate the expected mobile metrics: rise in smart phone users along with rise in mobile media access, Europe hosts a more developed mobile market than U.S., and so forth. Last week, Mike and I made a quick trip to Austin, Texas to visit both current and potential clients. One of our current clients, who is managing a 200+ unit condo development in the Barton Springs area of Austin, has been leasing a vanity code for nearly 6-months. By providing out text-for-info service, Goomzee Connect, to market the Barton Place Condos, people driving by are able to send a text message to learn more about the development (size, price, beds, baths, amenities, contact info, etc.). As popularity continues to increase, I wanted to share Verizon's press release information regarding their nearly double growth in text messages sent in just 6 months. We are beginning to see the increase of national advertisers using this marketing tactic to reach more of their customers in a more personal way, by using their cell phone; something that rarely leaves their sight. I've been talking with ad agencies for the past two weeks about creative ideas on how they can implement Goomzee Connect into their clients' advertising portfolios. We focus our primary sales and product enhancements based around the real estate industry, however, some advertisers have called us and asked if they can use our service for alternate purposes; coupons, event/entertainment information, artwork, internal company communication, etc. Heck, I say, the more the merrier! I've been doing some research on statistics for mobile marketing this past year, and I thought I would share my results for those of you interested. It seems that more and more buyers are falling into the age categories of text message users. November 2007 made headlines in the mobile industry as the total number of US subscribers reached 250 million. Just five years ago, 2002 marked a total of 140.7 million subscribers.
