"The 45 Lessons Life Taught Me" - by Regina Brett, 90 years old
This was sent to me from a good friend via email.
Regina Brett is a woman who just turned 90 and writes a regular column.
I HAD to pass it on to all of my Peeps because I know how hard most of us work within our efforts to get ahead.
Sending this over to everyone with positive energy:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short – enjoy it. 4. Your … (11 comments)

I just made a donation to a great organization that assists the homeless - ePath.org - Pay It Forward
I learned about EPath.org from an acquaintence I met recently.  It's a great organization that helps those homeless to get back on a good path.
When I learned about this organization I immediately knew that I wanted to make a donation, and I'm also looking into how I can volunteer some time to help those of us that need a break and a helping hand.

The solidarity group Yeggo was created at the same time as the Banc Villageois. It is made up of 15 women who all come from the same village and the same group. To show their affinity, they have given the group the name “agreement” because of their good relationships. Madame Anthia, the leader of this group who is standing to the right in the photo, is 43 years old, married and a mother. She is the mother of three children but does … (2 comments)

pay it forward: Some Kudos to a fellow ActiveRain Member............ - 10/29/11 03:21 AM

During my course of reading some of our Pay It Forward posts, I found one that deserves some attention, especially from a professional standpoint.
AR member Robert Amato wrote a post that I feel is feature-worthy, so I suggested it.  Perhaps you can too....

I'm sure we've all done some pretty self-less things in the course of dealing with clients.
But with a good understanding of how positive energy works, we understand that sometimes the benefits to helping people are not instant.  They come to you later, in the bigger picture.
Let's give some support to Robert for helping … (8 comments)

I just made a $25 donation to help an African village through SaveAfricaNow.org - Pay It Forward

I met this organization at the Green Expo in Los Angeles a while back.
We made a donation to SaveAfricaNow a while back, and I decided to do it again as they are half way through getting financing in place for a particular village.
Just thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention.
There are so many desperate people around the globe who are victims of dictatorships, warfare, and so many other socioeconomic injustices that they can really use our help.
All the best,

I just made another micro loan in Kiva.org to help a farmer in Tajikistan - Pay It Forward
I tend to use my micro loan dollars for women in underdeveloped countries, or men and women who supply fruit and vegetable crops to their people.
I'm not a big supporter of anything to do with animal farming for reasons that are pretty obvious.
Anyway, Farhod was born in 1973. He is an honest and goal-oriented person. He is married and is a father of four children. His wife does not work; she is a homemaker and looks after the children. Farhod is … (7 comments)

I bought someone's Yogurt in line behind me yesterday at Menchie's - Pay It Forward
We took a walk over to the Town Center yesterday with the dogs and went over to Menchie's.
I love Menchie's because the frozen yogurt there is de-lish and you get all the free samples you want!
Anyway, while I was in line getting my yogurt weighed, I noticed a kid behind me loading up on all kinds of things!
I thought to myself "that is going to weigh a ton"
He was a young kid and so I thought it would be nice to pay … (16 comments)

One of my neighbors little girls was raising funds for her school program so I bought a $13 magazine subscription - Pay It Forward
She was so unbelievably cute!  She went door to door on our block with her Dad by her side, and had her little brochures and a notepad and pen.
I think she's about 8 or 9 years old. Too cute.
So I bought a subscription to Vegetarian Times for $13.
Hey, that's a bargain and at least it's going towards the little sweetie-pie's school program.
She was just a little ball of sunshine.  I think I want … (5 comments)

I just made a $50 donation to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life - Pay It Forward
I'm involved with many American Cancer Society Relays for Life throughout the year.  This time around, I made a donation to the Relay in Glendale, CA on September 3rd.
I have one older brother and 2 older sisters, and I LOVE them VERY much.
One of my sisters, when she was in her teens, had a form of cancer called non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  She went through major treatment back then and is still here today as a survivor.  And she's had some bouts with … (6 comments)

I got someone 30% off of their bill - Pay It Forward
This week, while I was in line at the checkout at Kohl's there was a mother and her daughter buying back to school clothes in line in front of me.
I noticed that they were buying quite a few items.
I had one of the best discount coupons that Kohls offers - 30% off, and it was the last day of the sale.
The daughter seemed so excited about her new school clothes, and I know clothes are expensive for young girls.
So I politelly stepped in and told … (0 comments)

This week, I've decided to start a neighborhood safety program for our block - Pay It Forward
Not only is it for safety reasons, but after we thought about it, we do have some residents on our block that are older and may need help in an emergency, and we have many residents who have pets.
If there is a fire or earthquake, we all need to be prepared to be able to not only help each other, but to help each other's pets if our neighbors become incapacitated for whatever reason.
Some residents may want to give keys to those … (10 comments)

I took a good friend of mine out to lunch as a surprise this week - Pay It Forward
A good friend of mine works in an area that I had a seminar at this week.
So I decided to surprise him and show up unexpectedly and invite him out to lunch.
Of course, he was very busy at the time, but he was actually glad to get away for a while.
I love doing that kind of stuff.

Pay It Forward -  At the grocery store checkout
Whenever I'm checking out at the grocery store using the card swiper at Pavillions, they usually have another screen that comes out asking for a donation to a well-known charity.
I almost always decline because this type of thing seems so impersonal to me.  It just seems like it goes out into cyberspace and I don't really know what happens with the money.
Well, for some reason this time I decided to hit the "yes" button and made a small donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
I hope my Cyber Dollars have … (7 comments)

We had a dinner party for some new neighbors that moved in - Pay It Forward
We had a very nice couple that moved into our neighborhood recently.  We've wanted to welcome them to the block and we've been trying to have them over for dinner for the longest time.
Well, we finally had them over and we cooked a great fish dinner on the BBQ grill, with summer corn on the cob, a fresh spring mix salad with raspberry and peach vinagrette dressing.
A few days later we got  the funniest hand drawn thank you poster with characatures of all … (13 comments)

pay it forward: Visited a GreyHound rescue this weekend - Pay It Forward - 07/24/11 04:45 PM
When I vent to Kriser's this weekend, they had a Greyhound rescue going on, to I decided to stop by and check it out.
Turns out that after Greyhounds pass the age when they are no longer able to race, then they sometimes hard to find homes for.
I purchased some items at the event to help with the fundraising, and I will probably help put some kind of fundraising together for this great organization.
One of the members of the organization told me that they won a prize with Kriser's of $25,000 in food and snacks for dogs!

pay it forward: I made another MicroLoan through Kiva.org to a group in Uganda - Pay It Forward - 07/13/11 08:56 AM

I made another $25 micro loan to a great little group in Uganda - Bulenga Twekembe Group A
For those of you who do not know, Kiva.org is an amazing site where you make a micro loan of $25 along with other people on the site to fund a startup loan to people in typically impoverished countries to help them start a small business, or expand an existing one.
I've made dozens of micro loans over the past few years, and they've all been repaid. I then lend out the money again and again!
