I’m showing several newly-built homes in Monroe, NY, today. They all feature amenities that, 20-30 years ago, were reserved for the homes of the very wealthy. Today’s buyers expect cathedral ceilings in the entryways and family rooms, gas fireplaces, big windows, very large master suites with walk-in closets and master baths with beautiful tile and whirlpool tubs. They also want basements with 8’ – 9’ ceilings to use for living/recreational space, not the old-style cellars once used for storage and maybe laundry. I wonder which of these features will be outdated in 20 years and which will continue to be (13 comments)
