If you read my blog regularly, you know I'm a Road Trip fan. I caught the bug when I went to college in Southern Illinois and traveled back and forth from California each quarter. Loved seeing the country in slower motion. My normal route was through Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri on the northern trip and Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona if I went south. Just this month I took one with my son and mom which took us to South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon.....love seeing things from the window of a car. One of the (28 comments)
I love this country! I love the country which is the United States and the ideal which is America. I get choked up at patriotic songs and the sight of a Marine. I'm proud of what we are supposed to be....we are the good guys! That said....ugh! What a mess we are in! I was thinking about this on my morning hike. Wondering if we were doomed, living in the decline of the American Dream? I hope not! We've gone through things before, and as a country we rallied and prevailed. I noticed something this week...more and more people I'm speaking to are self-employed. Some form of contractor, consultant or small business. I am too, of course. Then something interesting happened at my house...my husband has taken a new position as an Independent Contractor for a software company. This is a new model for software sales....similar to a manufacturer's rep, or a franchise right to sell. Really interesting. In this model there is company support, training, resources, but he will operate within his territory as an independent and run it as a LLC. It's something we've never seen before...and it (52 comments)
