harold watts scott lyle realtors: 20% Increase in Palm Springs Home Sales for June 2010

I saw this picture on Flickr and it really grabbed my attention. At first glance, you see the black arrows going in an upward direction and you think "Ok, it's a bunch of arrows going up." Now look a little closer at the negative space of the photo and what do you see? You see the shapes of white arrows going in a downward direction. Everything we see in this picture is based on our mind's perception. This correlation of perception is the same with the Palm Springs Real Estate market. If you listen to the local and national news, (0 comments)

Having been in the real estate business since 1999, I have come across almost every type of situation imaginable: Someone died in the house, divorced spouses fighting with each other, probate courts, flooded homes, and ghosts. I thought I had seen and experienced everything. Until today. I met with a couple who had called my office a few weeks ago looking for information about selling their home. Based on the initial conversation, I knew they were in financial trouble. They bought their home in 2006. The couple, along with their 2 children, had intended to live their "American Dream". Then came (3 comments)
harold watts scott lyle realtors: Luxury Real Estate Making a Comeback in Palm Springs
- 06/04/10 03:52 AM
I was browsing Twitter the other day when I came across a re-tweet from Miami Beach Realtor & uber-Tweeter, Ines Hegedus-Garcia. The online article she was referencing was from the Wall Street Journal and was called "Luxury Home Sales Bounce Back". The story was talking about how the luxury home market was making a comeback due in part to better financing conditions, realistic home prices, and a continuing buyer confidence. In the city of Palm Springs, this premise is holding true. Of the 77 homes that sold in May 2010, there were 8 homes that had a price tag of $1 million dollars (0 comments)
harold watts scott lyle realtors: Is Palm Springs Ready for the "Big One"?
- 01/13/10 08:55 AM
On January 17, 1994, 4:57am, the most terrifying experience in my life occurred, the 6.7 Northridge earthquake. I was living in a 3-story condo building in North Hollywood, which was about 8 miles from the epicenter of the quake. I have lived in California all my life, and had experienced small earthquakes. But nothing prepared me for this. The shaking of the ground & the sound of breaking glass awoke me to my nightmare. Bottles & dishes flying out of the cabinets, water pipes bursting, and furniture that was not secured was toppling over. I thought it was the end of (6 comments)

Tonight is New Year's Eve and I always love to listen Ella Fitzgerald's version of Frank Loesser's song, "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" while getting ready for my New Years Eve festivities. New Year's Eve is the time to reflect on the past 365 days, whether (2 comments)
harold watts scott lyle realtors: Hikers Rescued- Safety Tips for Hiking in Palm Springs
- 12/29/09 03:32 PM
The natural beauty of the desert brings thousands of tourists to the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley every year. When I moved to Palm Springs eleven years ago, one of the first activities that I immersed myself in was hiking. Being a "city boy" most of my life, I never had the opportunity to go to any of the National Forests or Desert to indulge in this sport. I heard about the Lykken Trail, the Bump & Grind, and the Mecca Hills. I wanted to jump right in, and start exploring everything that the desert had to offer. (2 comments)
harold watts scott lyle realtors: I Spent the Night with Barry Manilow in Palm Springs
- 12/16/09 09:19 AM
What a provocative title!!! Only TMZ.com could come up with a more salacious title than this. Last Wednesday, December 9th, 2oo9, I did spend the evening with Barry Manilow, but so did my entire office staff. You're probably scratching your head and thinking, "What the heck is this guy talking about?" Let me explain. Local Palm Springs resident, Barry Manilow, performed at the McCallum Theatre for 5 nights as a benefit for 25 local charities. The event, called Barry Manilow's Gift of Love Benefit Concerts, took place on December 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. My brokers, Scott & Gina (4 comments)
"The Season" is upon us here in Palm Springs and the "snowbirds" are coming in droves to get away from the coldness of their hometowns. At the beginning of the month, Palm Springs was hit with a pre-winter storm that brought rain to the valley and the air temperature plummeted to very cold levels. The luxury real estate market in Palm Springs is just as brisk as the cold air around here. Even though the market is not like an episode of Million Dollar Listing (Thank God!!), we had an (5 comments)

To get into the spirit of the Halloween Weekend that is upon us, I wanted to re-tell my own "haunted house" story that I wrote about a 1 1/2 years ago here on ActiveRain. It's not exactly "The Amityville Horror" scary, but it is an experience I will never forget. Let me set up the story for you. I was reading a featured article written by Shirley Byrd-Solem of Roseburg, OR, and the title was "And Someone Was Murdered in my Garage" Her story was about a home she had sold to her buyers and the call she gets (0 comments)
