sacramento: Come Get to Know Downtown Sacramento - 07/13/08 01:42 PM
Come take a little ride with me and see some of the art, sculpture, architecture and beauty that Downtown Sacramento has to offer. One of the slides is a photo looking at the Tower Bridge was taken during the many fires that we are experiencing the effects of. We always have bright blue skies but you'll see that just a few days ago the skies were gray. Thank heavens the firefighters seem to be getting a handle on the Butt fires so are skies today are blue again. The pictures in the slide show were taken after spending the day with … (24 comments)

sacramento: July 4th in Sacramento - 07/01/08 08:16 AM
July 4th, 2008 is just around the corner.
Sacramento will be celebrating with professional fireworks in many of the surrounding cities and neighborhoods.
The Governor has asked that Californians leave the firework display to the professionals and not add to the police and fire department calls.
We certainly have had enough fires as witnessed by the smoky-filled skies throughout our great state of California these past few weeks.
July 4th is a time for celebrating our nations birthday and enjoying family and friends. Fireworks are scheduled from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe. With gas prices this year, you may want to chose a community close … (2 comments)

sacramento: What Baby Boomers Should Know - 05/09/08 02:39 PM
If you are at least 62 years young or older, reverse mortgage may be for you. Reverse Mortgages allow homeowners to convert the equity in their home to cash while retaining ownership and not making any house payments as long as you live in the house.
Property taxes and homeowner insurance are still the responsibility of the homeowner, to pay, though.
Hope you enjoy this little video that we can all relate to… and if not now, you will soon be able to relate, trust me!
In order to qualify for a reverse mortgage you must have paid … (12 comments)

sacramento: Peeking Makes You A Good Neighbor - 03/01/08 03:03 PM
Everyone living in Sacramento County, Placer County, Yolo County and El Dorado County needs to read this.
A recent home buyer, and now homeowner and friend living in Natomas, CA called me this week.
While gardening in her backyard in the afternoon, this Sacramento County new homeowner noticed a swarm of mosquitoes.
Since we have a record number of foreclosures, short sales and abandoned houses this is a call to action for all neighbors.
Sometimes, the homeowner has abandoned their house.  It takes the bank awhile before they realizes this.  In the meantime, no one is taking care of that broken sprinkler, a pool with no chemicals or a pond with standing water.
Remember, that standing water is a breeding ground for … (20 comments)

sacramento: Should EVERYTHING Be Aired in Public? - 02/18/08 02:01 AM
Recently I became familiar with a website that I find questionable and would like to have your honest, professional opinion about.  Of course, I realize that there are all kinds of strange, bizarre websites out there in blogosphere world and some may come and go...
Sacramento Channel 3 news reported on a website that ultimately could have a devastating result on neighborhoods, in my opinion.  Some may feel it is a joke. Some may think it's good to let your feelings out no matter what.
The website for reporting a rotten neighbor, in my opinion is an irresponsible maneuver on the part … (73 comments)

sacramento: Paper or Plastic? - 01/18/08 03:15 PM
Paper or Plastic, Sacramento? That will be the 15 cents, please if you chose plastic. Our Legislators will be working on passing a bill to charge 15 cents for each plastic bag that your groceries are bagged in.
The reason is that damage is being caused to our ocean by these bags as well as the generational time that it takes for the plastic to break down at the dump.
The E-Friendly thing to do is use a cloth bags. I'm sure you've seen them, they are sold at the grocery stores. And if you start now and buy one each time you go to the store, … (33 comments)

sacramento: As A Realtor Are You Transparent? - 01/10/08 07:10 AM
Days of Cheating on MLS at least in the Sacramento, El Dorado and Placer County are Coming to an end.

Recently, I read Here we go again! DOM - CDOM - Leased & Ative? What the heck?!? by Laurie Manny and was disheartened that we still have those agents who will reduce their integrity in the name of selling a listing.
What these agents don't realize isthey would still sell by being transparent. This generation is beyond being fooled by the shenanigans of a agent who is looking for a way around the system.
Well, I left my comment for Laurie on her post and … (17 comments)

sacramento: Do You Over Water? - 01/09/08 03:19 AM
Do YOU see the white spots on this fence?
Many times I see this on fences throughout the Sacramento area.
Water and wood don't mix well together...decay and weakness are a fate waiting to happen.
It always surprises me that homeowners are surprised when a storm brings a fence down.
No point in replacing a fallen fence if you don't change your watering habits.
Over spraying and over watering is not only a pinch on your pocket book but it is detrimental for the endurance of fencing.
It doesn't matter if the "good neighbor" on the other side adheres to the principle of proper watering. The home … (4 comments)

I do so love holiday home tours...how about you? They seem to get eveyone in the holiday spirit, not only to get some fresh new holiday decorating tips for your home but to also help raise money for different charitable events and causes.
Great homes in the Fabulous 40's are once again being decorated to the hilt and awaiting your arrival.
Each year selected homes in an East Sacramento neighborhood roll out the carpet, sprinkle their fabulous homes with the very best decorations for the holidays and provide a glistening tour of their houses.
Where is all this happening in Sacramento?
None other than the Fabulous 40's. There … (13 comments)

sacramento: Sacramento...Have You Heard? - 12/01/07 04:21 AM
Sacramento County is paying attention to the air quality and the health of the residents.
Starting Dec. 1, 2007 if you have a wood-burning fireplace in your house you will be restricted on when you can burn.
This will include all of Sacramento County and unincorporated areas of Sacramento County as well as the cities of Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Galt, Isleton Rancho Cordova and Sacramento.
Homes burning wood are the largest single source of Sacramento County's air quality problems.
There will be days when the County will issue a "no burn" starting December 1, 2007. It's important to comply as the first offense will … (1 comments)

sacramento: Foreclosures in California Will Be Reduced! - 11/22/07 08:26 AM
Good News for Real Estate is here! Finally there is hope for Homeowners with adjustable real estate loans...keep reading!
Happy Thanksgiving! There is some good news for those facing Foreclosure in Real Estate for the Sacramento area and all over California for that matter.
This week, Governor Schwarzenegger met with 4 of the largest loan servicers who are servicing subprime loans. The Governor asked these loan servicers to voluntarily agree to NOT adjust mortgage rates on their subprime loans which constitute 25% of their real estate loans.  California rates twice the National Average in Forecosures. This is having quite an impact on our economy here in California.
The four lending loan … (85 comments)

sacramento: What A Great Place to Live in Sacramento - Land Park - 11/14/07 11:49 AM
Take a tour of Land Park which is just a smidgen south of Downtown Sacramento right off Broadway and the historic Tower Theatre. Don't miss eating at the Tower Cafe before heading into Land Park.

Land Park is known for its tree-lined streets and homes of character and charm.  This is an area that is a testament to why Sacramento is called the "City of Trees."
Because I have so much to say about Land Park and what it has to offer I will break this article into a two part series.
Last week, I showed a home buyer relocating from Georgia, homes in … (12 comments)

sacramento: Is A Credit Score Really Important? - 11/09/07 11:58 AM
A Sacramento Real Estate Home Buyer recently emailed and asked for an explanation about credit scores and what the numbers mean. The home buyer wanted to know if those numbers really mattered and if anyone really looked at them. Since we have a new generation of home buyers coming up, it's important for you to know that your credit is VERY important and it follows you forever.
When you want to:
buy a car, the car dealer looks at your credit score get a credit card, the company wants to look at your credit score buy a house, the Lender will look at your … (16 comments)

sacramento: Best Kept Secret in Sacramento-River Park - 11/07/07 12:58 PM
Ever wondered what some of the secret neighborhoods are in Sacramento? I'm about to tell you about a community that many have no idea about. It is located off of H Street ... here's a map to give you the exact pin point of where River Park is by Google Maps.
As you can see the American River is quite an asset to this community and is accessible by the residents of River Point.
When you drive into River Point it is easy to see why people like it here. The homes are all different, no tract homes here. Neighbors are out walking their … (6 comments)

sacramento: Sacramento Rail Yards Could Be E-Friendly - 11/07/07 10:55 AM
In Sacramento we have what is called the Sacramento Rail yards which is located on the Northern most side of Downtown Sacramento on 39 acres from Front and K Street where the Central Pacific/Southern Pacific Railroad started their history back in 1863. This is prime real estate.
This 240 acre parcel is one of the largest undeveloped areas in the country and one that has a tremendous amount of history.  The redevelopment of this land has been discussed for many years and looks as though it may come to fruition sooner than later.
The proposal for this piece of Sacramento real estate would have street-front retail, office … (4 comments)

sacramento: Sacramento Home Sales Report for October 2007 - 11/07/07 06:51 AM
Sacramento home sales report for October shows quite a few homes for sale with very few sold.
However, there are some extremely happy home buyerswho have taken advantage of the best real estate market a home buyer could ask for.
Over all for Sacramento County in the month ending for October 2007 there were:
9, 799 residential homes for sale
1, 276 homes were in contract
747 homes sold at an average price of $335,178 with 1,769 square feet.
It would appear that Sacramento County has about 13.1 months worth of inventory at this time.  Does this mean that it is a good time for home buyers to buy? … (0 comments)
