success: Have You Found Your Cheese? - 12/09/18 03:27 PM
Last week Barbara Todaro wrote a blog titled "What Will I Do When The Market Changes & The Well Is Dry?"  Barbara's blog automatically reminded me of a little book I read several years ago with a message that has been embedded in my mind every since.  The title of that little book is "Who Moved My Cheese?" by Spencer Johnson, M.D.  If you have read this book you know why I automatically thought of it as I was reading Barbara's blog.  But for those of you who have not read it, let me give you a quick summary.
"Who Moved My Cheese" is about four … (44 comments)

success: Do You Have The Level Of Conviction & Persistence That Refuses To Fail? - 05/14/16 04:41 AM
Thomas Edison is much better known for his invention of the light bulb than as a motivational speaker, however, he has been a source of motivation for me for many years.  I read a quote by Thomas Edison early in my Sales career which has served as a source of motivation ever since.  While being interviewed about his invention of the light bulb, Thomas Edison stated "I never failed. I just found 10,000 ways not to make a light bulb before I found one way to make one."  Thomas Edison to this day serves as the ultimate example of persistence for me.  He was … (23 comments)

success: It Takes A Team Of Professionals Working Together For A Successful Closing - 02/11/16 06:22 AM
It may "take a village to raise a child", but It Takes A Team Of Professionals Working Together For A Successful Closing.  With all the additional Government regulations these day which have significantly impacted the process of obtaining a mortgage this is more true than every before.  Today everyone involved in a Real Estate transaction needs to be proficient at what they do, and all pulling together in the same direction in order to have a successful Closing.
A successful Closing depends on everyone doing on what needs to be done throughout the transaction.  A Closing depends on a:
Buyer Seller Realtor(s) Loan … (18 comments)

success: A Loan Originator Needs To Have Trust In Order To Succeed - 02/06/16 03:56 AM
Stop and think about it for a minute, Loan Originators are ask Borrowers to depend on them to secure financing for the single most expensive purchase of their lives, and ask Realtors/Agents to refer them to their most valuable resource.  Neither of these are going to happen without a very high level of trust, which means A Loan Originator Needs To Have Trust In Order To Succeed.
Loan Originator experience a high level of trust in every Mortgage Transaction they are involved in.  Trust is not only demonstrated by Realtors/Agents who refer their Buyers to a Loan Originator, and trust the … (19 comments)

This month Patricia Kennedy is hosting the "October Challenge:  Your Best Advice for Real Estate Newbies", in which she challenges us "Oldies" to "think back on our own career. Write  a post about the very best advice we got that could help a rookie become a rock star."  Even though I have already submitted a blog for Patricia's challenge this month titled "My 12 Suggestions On How To Become A Sales Rock Star" I wanted to follow that blog up with one which pertains more to attitude than doing something physically.  What I am saying is What We Believe Creates Our Reality.
In other words … (22 comments)

This month Patricia Kennedy is hosting the "October Challenge:  Your Best Advice for Real Estate Newbies", in which she challenges us "Oldies" to think back on our own career, and write a post about the very best advice we got that could help a rookie become a rock star.  I have had careers in three very different sales fields, but even though all three were very different from one another, they all required the same things in order to be successful.  So My 12 Suggestions On How To Become A Sales Rock Star are:
1.  Don’t take things personally!
Don’t be discouraged if … (112 comments)

success: Three Simple Steps To Be Successful And Increase Business - 06/22/15 04:04 AM
I am not much of an advocate of Seminars or Webinars on how to improve my business.  I find them all to be basically the same and they put me to sleep. But everyone once in a while one comes along that actually makes sense and offers good common sense advice. Such was the case with a Seminar I attended several years ago titled CloseMore. Jack Davis was one of the speakers at the Seminar, and only talked about Three Simple Steps To Be Successful And Increase Business, but his three steps made sense then, and continue to make since today.  … (37 comments)

success: A Sales Person Needs To Be Consistant - 05/20/14 10:22 PM
In thinking about what to write for Melissa Zavalals ActiveRain challenge "May Contest" What's It Take to Be a Successful Agent These Days?" I thought about several things which a Successful Loan Originator needs to do these days.  After all I have written blogs in the past which I covered what a Loan Originator needs to do to succeed, so answering Melissa's challenge this month shouldn't be very difficult.  However, the more I looked at what I have written in the past about what a Loan Originator needs to do to succeed, everything I had written before seemed to fall under … (32 comments)

success: Learning To Swim And Riding A Bike Requires Learning To Relax - 05/17/14 11:24 PM
I did not learn to swim until I was about 10 years old, and the toughest part of learning to swim for me was learning to relax.  When I would get in the water I would tense up, and as a result sink like a lead weight.  It was the same with learning how to ride a bike.  I was not able to take off the training wheels until I learned to relax.  Just like Learning To Swim And Riding A Bike Requires Learning To Relax, so does learning to sell.
I became a Loan Originator late in life, but I have … (30 comments)

success: Success Where Does It Start? - 01/31/12 01:12 PM
We all want to succeed, but in order to be successful we have to first start with a basic question "Success Where Does It Start?  In my opinion the answer to that question is as basic as the question its self.
I am sure that most of us here could rattle off a bunch of things that we all need to do to be successful.  That list would most likely contain everything from working hard, and being knowledgeable about our business, to the type of marketing required to achieve success.  But in my opinion non of the things on the list would … (12 comments)

success: Key To Being A Successful Sales Person!!! - 12/02/06 03:55 PM
I firmly believe that the difference between a successful sales person and one that isn’t, is “Motivation”.  A successful sales person does not need to report to an office and have someone tell them what they have to do.  A successful sales person does not have to have someone checking on them to see if they are doing what they are suppose to be doing. A successful sales person does not wait around for the phone to ring, they make it ring.
What does a successful sales person have that others are missing?  It is simple, it is “Motivation”.  A successful … (48 comments)

success: Secret of Success - 10/06/06 03:48 AM
There are people that make a very good living, telling other people how to be successful.  Success seems to be treated as some great mystery, but I fail to see what the great mystery is. To me the formula is pretty simple, but doing it is NOT.
All the successful that I know have these thing in common:
1) They have a plan.
2)  They work their plan
3)  They don't let other things distract them from their plan
4)  They do all the little things that others are not willing to do
5)  They are constantly in touch with their … (8 comments)
