I'm not sure what the "norm" is in various parts of the country, but I don't think it's the Buyer Agent's responsibility to help pay for the marketing fees for the Listing Agent.
 
In my view, if you are the listing agent, part of your responsibilities are to market the property, and there are a variety of methods available, i.e. newspaper ads, Facebook, Twitter, your Website and Realto.ca to name a few.  There are also flyers I usually have made and distribure to the closest 100 homes in the area.
