real estate: Second Opinion Anyone - 02/21/10 02:32 AM
Do we go for second opinions?
Many decisions that we make in our lives, lead us to look for at least one more opinion.
When we are in a restaurant, we ask the waiter for his opinion. If I'm buying something to wear and my wife is not around, I would need to look for eye contact from anybody for a second opinion. In this case, a word from a fashionable lady would be the best . Not much money involved, right?
When we bought our last big TV for example. We did our homework. We checked the online prices and … (5 comments)

real estate: Text, Email, Phone - 01/19/10 04:30 PM
I do not think that all the professions are losing phone contact.
We have all the networks. To type, text, tweet , but we still need to make a phone call. I read an article that professionals are losing some business because, some business professionals are using way too much of everything but not enough of a phone.

Are we losing a personal touch? I did not yet scheduled a listing appointment without voice contact. We do have that option on MLS. I did use it, and followed up with a call.
I received an email a few days … (11 comments)

real estate: Showing A Home - 01/16/10 03:36 AM
Time ago I read few posts and different opinions about showing a home with or without the owners present.
I don't know why, but my opinion was when showing homes without the owners or listing real estate agent present, it would be better. The clients would be more comfortable, and showing of the home would go smoother.
It appears that when we drive around to show homes to a client it's like a private open house. We open the home, but someone could be there to offer us a cookie, answer a question if we have, show us the way to … (3 comments)

real estate: Online Home Exposure - 01/10/10 03:53 AM
Major real estate websites have millions of visitors, but when we narrow down by the state, city and or zip code the numbers shrink. What about when a Realtor is involved directly.
When we are searching for a home,  we narrow down the criteria.  By the type of a home, bedrooms, high-rise, ranch and so on, right?
I was always wondering which of the websites, or who is virtually showing a home for sale the most. Here is the answer for one of my listings.

real estate: Ghost Properties - 01/06/10 01:13 PM
Have you ever been tricked, misled by  famous websites?
Not too long ago my client sent me some short sale properties that he found from a website.  Of course I checked the fishy information provided by the client on my MLS.  HMmmm nothing, double and triple checking. Maybe sold, maybe expired or maybe never existed. The price was fishy to begin with in this scenario.
Did someone just become a lead?  Did someone have to pay some extra to see some more of NON existing info for the property that was never ever even on the market?
I get the link … (2 comments)

real estate: Employee Of The Year - 12/13/09 12:38 PM
Who is/are your employees of the year?
I am guilty as charged of complaining here on the ActiveRain, too.  What about saying who is the best in the costumer service.  We all deal with good, bad and ugly situations. Is there any business in your neighborhood that you will say "These guys are always cool, happy to help. They would even share with you at the register that they enjoyed the product and described how awesome it was".  I never, never received a dirty look even half bad service in Trader Joe's, for example.
Many times I ask myself the … (4 comments)

real estate: Are You Buying A Home Today? - 12/12/09 05:17 AM
Here are some great details:
You have exceptional buying opportunity these days. With current inventory levels and prices stabilizing, plus historically low interest rates and the homebuyer tax credit,
To spite all the buzz about the housing market these are the facts: Mortgage rates reached 50-year lows in 2009. This is an ideal time for buyers to save thousands of dollars by obtaining home financing at record-low rates.
Why rent when you can own? is a question many families face. Home ownership remains a long-term investement. Owning a home is how many families begin to accumulate wealth. Given the leverage … (5 comments)

real estate: Sri Siam Restaurant - Morton Grove, IL - 12/11/09 02:59 PM
Sri Siam is one of my favorite local restaurants.
I am not afraid to try new restaurants, but for good Thai food I always go back to Sri Siam. The average meal price is $7.25.  They offer a choice of a free appetizer when you spend more than $15.
Here are couple of comments from Yelp.
"My favorite Thai meal is Pad See Ewe and Sri Siam's dish is terrific. Other places offer lifeless noodles or salty sauce."
"Bottom line, This restaurant deserves a 5-star rating and I will definitely be visiting this restaurant anytime I am in Chicago."

This weeks newsletter from NSBAR was about the survey Illinois Association of Realtors made, the current mortgage rate was included,  first time home buyers tax credit information, etc.  A few weeks ago I could have missed the link to the Tax credit "How it works video."  I took advantage of it and posted it here on AR.

real estate: Tweet Tweet Tweet - 11/24/09 12:31 PM
To Tweet or not to Tweet?
I read many posts about Twitter on ActiveRain and I got hooked on Twitter.  Here are a few Twitter related online approaches that I am doing and you can decide if they are worth it.
I made my Twitter account and I started Tweeting.  Everybody is following somebody and I decided to follow. Someone mentioned Twitter Lists and I made my own. Real estate list, local list, sport list, etc.
Of course Google analytics is the place where I am monitoring the map of my soon to be finished website. As you all know the … (12 comments)
