It's funny to think that you can find inspiration from a cartoon character. But, lately, circumstances have forced me to look in some weird places to keep a positive attitude. And, I happened to land upon Dory, the little blue fish from "Finding Nemo". Since Dory's only got a VERY short term memory, she's always happy to meet new people (even if she's known them for a while), she manages to make friends with those who should be her enemies ("What's a little bite like you doing 'round here") and is always in an upbeat mood ("Swimming, swimming...just keep swimming"). So now it is 1 year plus 1 day. yesterday my post was an unplanned stream of consciousness story about a major event. It could have been a heart attack, or some other terrible disease. Usually, people use New Year's Day as inspiration to start anew. Since I was fighting off a cold so that I could get into surgery on January 7th, New Year's was NOT a day of renewal for me. Recouperating from surgery can take a while. In my case, the doctor gave me 12 weeks to make sure that everything healed up nicely before I could do anything more strenuous than folding laundry.
