virtual assistant for realtors: LOL Friday - Times Two - 07/08/11 04:59 AM
A married man was taking some time for himself, walking along the beach, when he found an old oil lamp.  To get a better look at its condition, he tried rubbing the sand off.  To his surprise, a genie popped out.  "I am the genie of the lamp," he said.  "To thank you for freeing me from my prison, I will grant you three wishes.  However, you must keep this in mind.  Whatever you wish for, your mother-in-law will receive twice as much."
"OK," said the man.  "I wish for one billion dollars."
"Wish granted," said the genie.  And a billion … (8 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Motivational Monday: Three Sides of the Coin - 05/09/11 04:14 AM
You've most likely heard the phrase "two sides of a coin", meaning there are two sides to every argument.  Well, I say there are actually three sides of the coin: my side, your side and the truth.  Everyone's opinion is a culmination of their past experiences, present situation and the frame of mind they are in at the time.  My truth is not the same as your truth.  However, your point can feel just as valid to you as my point is to me.  The trick to resolving any problem is to listen to the other side's argument, give your side … (17 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: My Spring Garden - 04/14/11 04:47 AM
It's that time of year, people.  Time to get your spring garden in order if you're willing.  This year, my husband and I have been toying with the idea of actually starting one up.  It's in an effort to be healthier to our waistlines as well as our pocketbooks, since groceries are getting so high.  I'm not sure what to plant, though.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what is good to plant for newbies, such as myself and tips on how to keep up a small household garden?  I'd love to hear from you.

virtual assistant for realtors: To Be Fair, You're Only Paying For... - 02/10/11 02:38 PM
"To be fair, you're only paying for regular service."  Yes, that was the explanation I received from my internet provider when I went through an entire week of constant internet interruptions.  Not, "We're so sorry, Mrs. Chavez.  We'll get right on that."  No, I got the "To be fair, you're only paying for..." excuse.  It turns out that the $150 modem I bought just a few months ago because it would handle the web streaming and mutliple open windows I work in was too high-fallutin' for the cable company's service (which is the fastest internet connection they have).  I also kept … (13 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Meaning of Rose Colors - 02/04/11 10:07 AM
I recently had a conversation with some family members about the meaning of rose colors.  I love pink roses, myself.  And red ones are always appreciated.  But, in case you're wondering, here's your rose color guide:
Red - Love and romance
Yellow - Friendship, joy and get well
Pink - Love, gratitude and appreciation
White - Purity, innocence, sympathy and spirituality
Orange - Desire, enthusiasm and passion
Lavendar - Enchantment, majesty, love at first sight
I've never been much of an "orange" kind of gal.  But, I would definitely consider it a compliment to receive THOSE from my husband.

virtual assistant for realtors: Tag! I'm It! - 02/03/11 11:16 AM
After two years here on Active Rain, I finally got tagged for a MeMe.  Thanks, Tammy Lankford!  I don't know why, but this actually made me a little giddy.  I've seen them going around for others and now I feel like I've been asked to join in Active Rain-deer games.
Here are the MeMe Rules (please paste the following paragraph into your post if you are tagged):
"I'd like to know what YOUR Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) is for 2011. I'd also like to know more about you, and your background, what is it about you that makes this BHAG … (6 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Thank You, Connie Harvey - 01/31/11 12:41 AM
Thank you, Connie Harvey, for creating the 31 Day Challenge for January 2011.  Without your challenge, my resolution to blog once a day would have probably fallen by the wayside, much like just about any other resolution I make.  It would have been so much easier for me to just say "Ah, forget about it!" when it got late or I was not sure what to blog about.  Instead, your challenge made me reach deep down inside and create something that I thought would be interesting, not just something that would fill the space.  I greatly appreciate it!
Now, to continue … (10 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Check Your Keyword Density - 01/30/11 03:40 PM
Everyone knows that one of the keys to good SEO is choosing the right keywords.  Once you've decided what keywords you want to focus on, you need to check your keyword density on your site.  By using these words too little, they become ineffectual.  However, over-saturating your site with keywords not only looks awkward to the website visitor, but can be dinged by search engines as well.  To maintain the proper balance of keywords on your site, use the Keyword Density Analysis tool provided for free at We Build Pages.
By entering your website in the area provided, the analysis tool … (6 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: And the Dog Ain't Happy About it Either - 01/11/11 01:55 AM
About 2 and a half months ago, my little family uprooted itself from Southern California to Idaho to be near my husband's family.  Southern California is the only place my son has ever lived.  I was born there, moved away as a kid and spent the last 25 years there again.  So, it made me giggle when one of my friends in Southern California wrote on her Facebook page that she was so happy to get her furnace replaced (finally!) because it was so cold there.  I, of course, had to comment that it was a whopping 18 degrees where I … (15 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Holidays and Events for January 10 through 16 - 01/10/11 11:21 AM
Again, I am constantly amazed at what is considered a "National Day of".  Who thinks of some of these?
January 10National Clean Off Your Desk Day (It's a good idea to celebrate this more than just once a year)
January 12National Pharmacist Day (What do you give 'em, though?)
January 13Make Your Dream Come True Day (Finally!)International Skeptics Day (I don't know about this one.  Is it a REAL holiday?)
January 14Dress Up Your Pet Day (OK. My dog wears a hoodie but that's only because it's freakin' COLD here! Don't judge.)
January 15National Hat Day (I wear many hats everyday)

virtual assistant for realtors: Holy Guacamole, Batman! - 01/08/11 09:48 AM
My husband is QUITE the guacamole snob.  We have often had to re-train wait staff at Mexican restaurants who bring out a couple of avocados, skin them, squish them together and call it "guacamole".  My husband would only eat my mother-in-law's recipe for years.  So, I got the recipe from her.  In her wisdom, she told me that, when it comes to a recipe, you "take the basic recipe and add/subtract to your taste to make it your own".  My husband has since decided that he likes my recipe better (although, he would NEVER admit that to his mother).  In that … (6 comments)

Leave it to Maxine to tell it like it is...
Let's face it

After Monday and Tuesday, even the CALENDAR says W-T-F!
I really think I'll end up with Maxine's attitude when I'm of the elderly persuasion.  I'm looking forward to it.  Have a great weekend everybody!

virtual assistant for realtors: Smarty-Pants Dance - 10/01/10 01:58 AM
I'm happy to say that I've had a pretty good week.  I've been troubleshooting and problem-solving all over the place.  Woo-hoo!  So, I have decided that I will be doing this every time I get an answer right, help someone out or do something that makes me realize my brain still works just fine, thank you.  I'll have fun AND get some exercise.  See?  Win-win!  If you ask me nice and I solve a problem for you, maybe I'll make a video of me doing the "Smarty-Pants Dance".  I don't promise it will be this cute, but, what the hell!

virtual assistant for realtors: A Little Blue Fish is My Inspiration - 05/27/10 01:00 PM
It's funny to think that you can find inspiration from a cartoon character.  But, lately, circumstances have forced me to look in some weird places to keep a positive attitude.  And, I happened to land upon Dory, the little blue fish from "Finding Nemo".  Since Dory's only got a VERY short term memory, she's always happy to meet new people (even if she's known them for a while), she manages to make friends with those who should be her enemies ("What's a little bite like you doing 'round here") and is always in an upbeat mood ("Swimming, swimming...just keep swimming").  Not … (6 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Google Places Even More Emphasis on Blogs and Social Media - 05/17/10 05:29 PM
Google is now placing even more emphasis on blogs and social media.  You have no doubt heard about the new Google SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) options that are available to refine your Google search even more than before.  In addition to the typical News, Images, Maps and Videos, Google has now added the options to refine your search term according to Blogs, Updates and Discussions.
How will this affect your business as a Realtor®?  Instead of having to go to the Google blog search engine, people can type in keywords and simply click "Blogs" in the left hand menu.  This … (58 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Sub Station - The BEST Sandwiches in Riverside CA - 05/15/10 02:08 PM

When my husband asked me where I wanted to go to eat lunch today, the first thing that popped into my head was Sub Station (3663 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA).  If you're from the area, you are well aware of what Sub Station has to offer.  If you're not, well, first I have to say "Sucks to be you."  And then I would have to say that Sub Station has the BEST sandwiches in Riverside, CA.  Dare I say, they have the best sandwiches in the county?  Yes.  I dare.  In fact, I'll go even further to tell you … (2 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: Today is My New Year - 04/27/10 03:52 PM
Life seems to have gotten in the way of my blogging lately.  It happens.  I've been so busy helping my clients with their businesses (thank goodness) that I seem to have severely limited my playtime in the Rain.  When I logged in tonight and saw that the illustrious Todd Clark has reached a million points, I decided that I needed to pull on my galoshes and raincoat and really get my feet wet in the Rain again.  So, I'm back!  I've been reading some fantastic articles about some great things that I really must share.  I have only made the time … (13 comments)

virtual assistant for realtors: NASCAR NATION: Martinsville is a Day Late and a Dollar Short for Some - 03/29/10 01:11 PM
Martinsville ended up being a day late and a dollar short for some of NASCAR's Sprint Cup drivers.  Since yesterday's race was rained out, the drivers were able to race under cloudy but dry skies today.  I had to work but was only able to fend off my curiosity for the first half of the race.  I was listening to the live broadcast when the excitement got to be just too much.  Off went the computer and on went the TV.  I'm glad I decided to watch, too.
Jeff Gordon (#24) seemed to be doing well towards the beginning of the … (8 comments)
