hud: The Ongoing Mortgage Mess, Hud, the big three, etc..

In an attempt to try and get a grip on what has happened in the mortgage mess I read a lot. Tonight there was a interesting article on MSNBC (see article here) about the part HUD, Housing and Urban Development, has played in the current situtation. That situtation being the expected 3 to 4 million people who now own homes and can not afford the high-interest rate sub-prime loans they received. hud: New FHA/HUD Loan Limits Announced !

Last week, President Bush signed into law a $152 billion economic stimulus bill that includes temporary increases in loan limits for the government sponsored enterprises ie. Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and FHA until December 31. hud: Nehemiah Hud Lawsuit Statement

For anyone following the Nehemiah HUD lawsuit, Nehemiah officials released a statement this evening. Background: Nehemiah is the largest of the privately funded, non-profit, downpayment assistant programs. In October 2007, HUD ruled to ban private downpayment assistance programs.
