Referred to as "Classic Car Week", this is the week that Carmel-by-the-Sea pretty much becomes all about some of the most fantastic cars in the world. For example, today Ocean Avenue, the main street of our story book town was closed for the annual Pebble Beach Tour d' Elegance. This is where practically all of Sunday's entries in the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance at Pebble Beach will take a drive around the Monterey Peninsula and end up parking on Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea while its owners take in a lavish luncheon at Devendorf Park.

August is my favorite month in Carmel-by-the-Sea because car aficionados come from all over the world to gaze on, auction/bid for, judge, and drive some of the worlds finest luxury cars, muscle cars, hot rods and sporting cars.
Car manufacturers hold private showings and corporate events at such luxury Carmel Valley resorts as Quail Lodge and Stonepine.
Car owners of the latest and greatest models tend to bring them to Carmel-by-the-Sea and park them in normal parking spaces around town to be admired. And admired they are by thousands of people who come to the Monterey Peninsula for Concours Week.
