portland real estate broker: Change Should We Embrace it - 12/08/08 01:22 PM
The evolution of Real Estate sales is an ongoing process. As I look back at the many changes ( most for the good ) I wonder where we might be in another 10 or 20 years.
The first day I walked into my office now some 20 plus years ago I was met by the office manager. She sat me down for an interview. The interview consisted of about 20 pounds of forms that she wanted me to fill out. There were MLS forms, Office forms, Brokerage forms and the big one, the Business Plan form.
This was no small form … (49 comments)

portland real estate broker: The Big Trees of Portland - 05/07/08 01:13 AM
As Spring threatens to arrive Many of Portland Oregon's tree lined streets have yet to produce the leaves that will provide relief from summers heat.

Standing tall and barren like sentinels in Mt.Tabor one of Portland Oregon's Tree Lined Streets.
These giants not only provide summer relief they also help to define a neighborhood. While the leaves are gone for the moment it is the best time to view the trunks and limbs of these gentle giants.

Soon  the leaves will return and the interesting shapes will be mostly obscured. But for now the viewing is good.

Yet the signs of Spring … (8 comments)

portland real estate broker: Experts Dont Know Crap - 03/19/08 02:43 PM
The Real Estate Housing market has suddenly created a glut in the market place of Real Estate Experts. Each and every one of them in one venue or another spouting the same rhetoric.
" Now is a Horrible time to buy " or " Buy Now if you want to see your Equity go down the drain ". Or how about this one. " It might not be a bad time to consider buying, that is if you could get a loan ".
If there is anything the general public should have learned by now given the position of our struggling economy … (15 comments)

portland real estate broker: Portland's Alberta Arts District Wall Murals - 12/23/07 02:36 PM

Do you live in a city that embraces local artists? Portland Oregon is just such a place. This detail of a wall mural in the Alberta Arts District of Portland is just one of many shining examples. The display fosters a sense of community and also helps to curtail graffiti taggers.
The Alberta Arts Districthas become very popular over the last several years. In the mid 1990's I worked with several Contractors who bought homes in the area to rehab and resale. Returning those old turn of the century homes to a new state of grandeur has been quite emotionally rewarding. … (1 comments)

portland real estate broker: Selling Real Estate Cheaper - 12/17/07 04:25 AM
The one thing that remains constant in the field of Real Estate as well as in many other fields of endeavor is our desire and struggle to re-invent the wheel. Year after year we all analyze, scrutinize and tweak, sometimes shaking the very foundations of our core beliefs. Some of the modifications are good some not so much. Yet each and every attempted tweak leaves its impression.
Throughout this struggle of change one thing remains fairly constant. That is the cost of doing business. Year after year technology helps us to do things in a more efficient manner. It helps us to grow, to reach out to … (0 comments)

portland real estate broker: Positive Portland Real Estate Stats - 12/01/07 06:52 AM
In a recent article of the  The_Oregonian_newspaper  and on the front page in large headlines " Portland Home prices stable while most cities slide."
Of course the news is not all positive and the doom and gloom spin masters cannot help themselves as indicated in their sub Head line of " The Metro area is among five in the nation in which housing values escape decline, but 2008 could be different" Nothing like negative speculation to continue the hope of doom and gloom.
Yet this was meant to be a positive article about Portland residential real estate appreciation rates. Below are twenty cities used in … (8 comments)

portland real estate broker: No Magic Bullets Against Greed - 11/18/07 06:16 AM
While cruising through the Blog Posts here on Active Rain I came across this Intriguing_Story  from Activerainer Karen Monsour. Her post and question is a good one. But as I began writing the comment it soon got out of hand and control, length wise. Hence this post follows.
Karen's Boyfriend gave her a chilling forecast and oppinion of the foreclosure market in Ft. Lauderdale and Broward County Florida. This according to Karen's story and in her Boyfriend's oppinion and experience as a Contractor and based on his conversations with several other investors working in the area.
So Karen's question  " What do you think will happen to the properties the investors … (4 comments)

portland real estate broker: Activerain Referrals My Clients Needs are Met - 07/28/07 03:31 AM
I just love a success story. And this one is a Great one. As a Real Estate Broker working in the greater Portland Oregon Metro area it is always a joy to see peoples needs fulfilled. So often in this Real Estate market we here of the Tragic Story instead of the Success Story.
A couple of months back I received an email generated from my Buyer's_Web_Site_&_MLS_Connection.  The Buyer, Dawn thanked me for having such a great web site, allowing her to set her search parameters the way she liked it and the speed an accuracy by which the matches were sent to her. portland real estate broker: Beam me up Scotty ! - 07/20/07 02:01 AM
What causes us to resist change? For several years now I have constantly preached the benefits of Scanning documents and sending them out by email. The legibility factor his huge. Specifically when you look at issues of clarity as it relates to the Old Mighty Fax.
How long have scanners been around? This not new technology and certainly the price point is so low it is almost as if they are paying you to take them. Yet day in and day out the use of the Fax machine as the primary sender of documents remains.
I have heard of some people who have … (19 comments)

portland real estate broker: Your Real Estate Web Presence Where are You - 06/20/07 02:23 PM
The Internet is a fabulous venue for promoting Real Estate. This last week as many of you may or may not know there has been a long protracted dialogue on the_Community_Update_Post_on_Activerain  to the tune of 160 comments and counting.
At first the entire dialogue was about a decision to stop points for listings. That was subsequently worked out and points were restored. A full decision on how it will be monitored has not been verbalized or written about as of yet. The dialogue on the other hand has continued on spawning several side issues.
One such side issue debates the merit of chastising those that steal content … (8 comments)

portland real estate broker: How Prepared Are You The Mind Set of a Go-Getter - 05/16/07 11:41 AM
How Prepared are You as a Real Estate Agent? Do you carry with you the necessary tools do you your job? We never know in this business when the need may arise and an opportunity may be lost. I will give you an example.
On a damp Tuesday Morninga group of us were looking at all the new vacant land properties just outside of the city limits. Most of the parcels were fairly small and easy to get to. As we made our way up the single car road towards the 1/2 acre of ground a property coincidentally listed just the night before … (6 comments)

portland real estate broker: Dreams a Survivors Nightmare - 05/14/07 07:02 AM
Last Night was the conclusion of CBS's Reality hit television show Survivor_Fiji  . Now I do not have any illusions as to real life and television programming. But the television show Survivor now in its 14th season does depict the dynamics of civilization in the context of a competition in a very short time period ( 39 or so days ).
For those who do not watch the show this article is not about the show but about who we are and what we do and say. During the competition one of the contestants Yaoman had won a prize A_Ford_Truck  which he promptly traded … (4 comments)
