Day 32:  Offer to Purchase
Change is happening for me as I have written my first Offer to Purchase for 2009.  How is everyone else doing?  Has anyone noticed an increase in business now that the Holidays are over?  Has anyone noticed an increase in Buyers with the government's incentive of a $7,500 tax credit?

Day 31:  Keep your eyes on Mama
The training wheels were off and we were all in the street excited about my oldest daughter's first true ride on her bike.  My daughter was scared.  She wanted the training wheels back on.  "I can't do this," she said.  "I'm scared."  I stopped, collected my thoughts and realized she was overwhelmed with the mechanism itself.  She was looking down at the bike, the pedals and the tears streaming down her face.  No wonder she was overwhelmed.  She was too involved with the mechanics.

Day 30:  Happy 4th Birthday Peyton
We are a week into 2009 and it appears that there aren't a lot of buyers in my market so soon after the Holidays.  But we've got a whole year ahead of us and it is going to be great.

Day 29:  Steps in the right direction or just a DORK?
Kim and I put all the kids in strollers and started our daily walk.  After about 30 minutes we stopped to take a drink of water.  That's when I asked Kim, "How many steps do you think we have made?"  She looked at me with that look.  You know the look.  "You're a DORK!"

Day 28:  Listings are coming in.
Twenty-eight days into "100 Days to Change" and I have added two new listings.  I'm totally stoked about it.  Now all I have to do is convert some listings to pendings and eventually closings.  After all, closings are what we need to get paid.  Does anyone know of somebody looking for a nice lot to build on in a golf course community in Wallace, North Carolina?  Let me know if you do.

Day 27:  Local Secret
I just discovered that blogging really can increase your presence in your local community.  The best part about blogging is that you don't have to spend any money and all it really costs you is time.  So if you want to market yourself, start blogging.  Blog about relevent material though.  Blog about your community.  Be professional and try not to be bias.  A great way to blog about your community is to blog about community events.  It demonstates that you are informed and that you know what's going on.

Day 26:  Gone Fishing
Does anyone know anything about fishing?
Well if you don't, let me tell you a little bit about it.  You can't catch anything unless you put a hook in the water.

Day 25:  1st Time Home Buyer Seminar
Today my office gathered and talked about putting on an event to generate some business.  "Let's have a 1st Time Home Buyer Seminar".  Nothing new right?  Well actually, how many real estate companies are really hosting events to generate business these days?  It doesn't seem like many to me.  Why not?  Perhaps everyone has been glued to the tube and are believing all of the gloom and doom that they are hearing.

Day 24:  "I'm losing my home."
I received a phone call today from a homeowner asking me for help.  "We are being foreclosed on".  The phrase resonated through my head.
On the side, I work as a home retention consultant.  Yes, I actually try to help homeowners who have fallen on hard times, keep their homes.  The success right is fairly low however when I am able to help a homeowner keep their home it is truly rewarding.  I'm not speaking monetarily.  It makes you feel really good.

Day 23:  What do I blog about?
To all the members who have joined "100 Days to Change", I would like to thank you for your dedication and support.  The Holidays are over and I'm sure that everyone spent quality time with friends, family and loved ones.  Now what do we do?

Day 22:  Pedometer
Today I splurged and purchased a pedometer for five bucks.  What's a pedometer?  A pedometer is a small device that you fasten to your waist which is supposed to measure the distance you travel throughout the day.  Don't ask me how it works because I don't know.
Why did I get one?  I got one because the day after Christmas I stepped onto the scale and weighed in at 223 lbs.  That's not to good for someone 5'11".  I have to increase my activity level.  I have to "ramp it up".

Day 21:  Feed the Pig
For me, my financials are in dire straits.  In "Shift", Gary Keller talks about making adjustments to survive a shift in the real estate market.  When the market is on the down turn you have to eliminate anything that you can to make it through.  I am now in the process of eliminating any cost that I can to survive these lean times.  Are any of you having to cut expenses to make it through this shift?  If so, let me know some of the areas that you are cutting back on.

Day 19:  We are now 19 Days into our "100 Days to Change".  I trust that everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  As the year winds to a close, now is a great time to due some maintenance to your database.  Update addresses from the Christmas cards you received.  Revisit contacts that you have had little to no interaction with this past year.  Are they doing business with someone else?  Have they not gotten the attention that they deserve?  Is it time to categorize them as a "D"?  Remember, "D" is for Delete.  Everyone should be categorizing their database.  As impersonal as … (3 comments)

Day 17:  Journal Entries
Be sure to stay on top of your journal entries.  If you have joined "100 Days to Change" and somehow missed the part about purchasing a composition book to serve as your journal then don't freak out.  It's not too late.  Just go to any drug store or Walmart, look in the school supplies area and locate one of those basic Composition Books that have the black and white pattern on front and back and is bound with the solid black binding.
On the very first page, create a header called "Daily Affirmation".

It's now 6:33 AM Christmas Morning.  My children will be waking in a few short hours and I can't wait to see their excitement.  I am so Blessed to have such a wonderful family.  Harrison Reece, at 16 months, will surely have no problem ripping into the wrapping paper of all of his presents.  Addison Riley just celebrated her 3rd Birthday a few hours ago on Christmas Eve.  Peyton Leigh is growing up all too fast and will be 4 on January 7th.  Where is all the time going?  They really do grow up so fast.  For all of you that have young ones, enjoy … (9 comments)

 It's Christmas Eve and not a lot of work is going on around my house today for you see, it is also Addison Riley's Birthday.  I'm spending a lot of time with the family right now as I hope all of you are doing.

Day 15:  Someone asked me today, "How is the real estate market?"
"It's unbelievable," I replied. 
I immediately saw their eyes open.  I could tell that I took them off guard.  Then I jumped right in and said, "It's a great time to buy."  Will they use me to buy some real estate?  I don't know.  But what I did was to start a buzz.  If you're not talking it then you're not doing it.  You've got to constantly promote yourself and always work towards closing.  After all, that's how we get paid.
