politics: Political Season in Boston - 11/23/09 08:15 AM

I get so tired of turning on the news and hearing about all the shenanigans going on lately...useless trips to Asia, the impending doom that is the health "care" bill, Massachusetts sales tax increasing,  our legislature adjouring for the rest of the year even though we have a $125 million deficit... (come on people, seriously?)

When I moved to Boston I decided the quickest way to meet people would be to get involved in some type of political group. Once I started listening to the news I knew I absolutely had to. My friends back home told me … (19 comments)

politics: Tea'd! Volunteering for the Boston Tea Party, July 4th - 06/22/09 07:27 AM
I suppose campaigning for fairer taxes is being a rebel now days. At least that's what Mom called me with a laugh when I told her I'd be volunteering for the MA-NH Independence Day Tea Party.
I was really bummed when I missed my local tea party back on tax day. I have three professors to thank for putting back to back to back exams on that day. Some friends threw in a few tea bags for me and I figured oh I'll just do it next year. When I found out there were tea parties on July 4th, the first … (10 comments)

politics: Where's my Bermuda trip? - 06/16/09 10:59 AM
It doesn't matter what side of the political fence you're on when it comes to the issue of giving known terrorists a vacation to Bermuda. You're telling me that my taxpayer dollars are going to people that have plotted to kill innocent human beings, not even just Americans, and giving them a trip to Bermuda.
Are you kidding me? Where's my Bermuda trip!!!!??
I just can't believe how ridiculous it is that something like this could even be entertained, let alone happen. Isn't it great that they're going to start a restaurant together? Maybe they should open a hotel while they're … (23 comments)

politics: Elderly drivers tested- what do you think? - 06/16/09 10:44 AM
In the last week and a half there have been 7 serious incidents in NEw England involving elderly drivers, a few of them involving death. The latest was a 4 year old girl hit in a cross-walk. Talk radio has been buzzing with people giving their views on the suggestion of mandatory testing starting at age 75. It is my understanding that they have tried to enact this for the past two years, but the lawmakers have been too busy discussing important issues such as the Commonwealth's official movie. I want to get the ActiveRain community's view on it. Good idea? … (3 comments)

politics: Conservative Political Action Conference- or where I'm going to find my husband - 03/03/09 07:14 AM
Neither my friend Rachel nor I have ever seen so many tall well dressed conservative guys in one place.
The well dressed isn't so much of a deal, but tall (as in taller than me which is rare) and conservative.... my facebook status reads: so many tall well dressed conservative guys in one place... ::sigh:: i know where i'm going to find my hubby. One of my friends commented: Sigma Phi Delta party?
But this blog is about the conference, not about the guys there. The conference was fabulous- I don't know if any of you watched it on Fox, I … (9 comments)

politics: They can do what?! - 02/15/09 03:48 PM
Friday night I had a dream that I was captured by the government for speaking out against them. It wasn't a pleasant dream needless to say. And no, I haven't read 1984 anytime recently. So today I'm looking through one of my favorite websites, Fark.com. If you've never visited, it's a reader submitted news-site. Beside each sotry is a tag for what type of story it is, ie Hero, Scary, Funny, Obvious, etc. Go chek it out. Anyways. I come across an article with the Scary tag and this description:
The government can videotape people on private property without a warrant … (5 comments)

politics: Gun rights affected by stimulus package- with link to stimulus package - 02/15/09 11:33 AM

Apparently, somewhere in this stimulus bill is a nice little section saying the government wants to create an electronic copy of my health records. "What could be so bad about that?" you might ask. Aside from the fact that it has NOTHING TO DO WITH AN ECONOMIC STIMULUS.... Sure it's good when you're states away and you have an emergency- instant medical records access. Of course that's based on working internet access at the time.... And even though identity theft is such a big problem, we should totally allow our medical records to be put into some massive database. But … (26 comments)
