fun: Surprise! She is not who you thought she was! - 04/25/09 06:48 AM
I heard a really funny story on CNN last week. It seems that one young woman was less than enthusiastic about the prospect of her 10 year high school reunion. Instead of just skipping it, like the rest of us would, she decided to 'mess with' her former classmates a little bit.
A comedian writer by trade, this young woman took it on as a project. She hired a burlesque dancer to stand in for her. She then rented the room above the reunion and using cameras and an ear piece, she coached the dancer through the awkward moments--but not the … (14 comments)

fun: Have Some Fun with 'Way Back When' - 10/21/08 05:15 AM
Last week I posted a blog entry about why you should go to your High School Reunions,  http://activerain.com/blogsview/743633/Even-if-you-dont-want-to-GO-TO-YOUR-REUNION.
Yesterday I received an email from an ActiveRain member, Capital District Real Estate, Lewis Beynon, letting me know that he,'gave you some "props" (as my kids would say). Hope you don't mind!!!'  I went to his blog (http://activerain.com/blogsview/743686/High-School-Reunions) since I did not know what 'props' meant and was pleasantly surprised to see him referencing my post.
He also added a link to a really fun application (click on his post to get there) which allows you to create new 'yearbook' pictures for yourself.  … (3 comments)

fun: Even if you don't want to--GO TO YOUR REUNION! - 10/16/08 07:22 AM
Last weekend my sister-in-law called to tell me that my brother did not want to go to their 20 year reunion.  They were high school sweethearts.  She, however, had been long making plans with friends and was very excited about the prospect of catching up with old high school buddies.

They live out of town and had made plans to come and stay with us. We could watch their kids while the went to the different events.
Friday night arrived and they did, too.  My sister-in-law went off with a girl friend to the pre-party party. My brother stayed back … (9 comments)

fun: What Are Your Ideas for Halloween Costumes This Year? - 09/29/08 05:03 AM

We have friends who hold an almost annual adult costume party. It is a pretty clever bunch of folks, so the pressure is always on to be creative.  Aside from the obvious political fodder, I would love to get some of your ideas.
Okay, I will get the obvious out of the way...Sarah Palin, Barack O'Bama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and John McCain.I am sure Laura and George Bush will still be a popular choice. Bill Clinton is always an easy one
But who/what else are you thinking this year? My husband and I need to come up with … (11 comments)

fun: Find an Old Friend! - 05/12/08 06:46 AM
Technology gets a bad rap...we are always being told that we are TOO connected or not connected enough.  I feel like I have a pretty healthy attitude toward technology and how it can enhance my business and my life, and I feel like my experience today is a good example.
Today I had two good (not particularly business related) experiences with technology that I wanted to share.  This morning, when I turned on my computer, I had a message from a college friend who had found me on www.Facebook.com.  This is someone that I had not seen, probably since graduation. I … (1 comments)

fun: Restaurant Week in Washington D.C. - 01/14/08 12:38 AM
If you are looking for something to do--and to save money while doing it--this week is 'Restaurant Week' in Washington D.C.  During this week 170 restaurants offer fixed price dining options: 3-course lunches for $20, and 3-course dinners for $30.08.
It is possible to make reservations for this event through opentable.com.  Because not all restaurants offer both lunch and dinner options, be sure to confirm that they are participating and that they are offering their fixed price meal at the time of your reservation.
This is a great opportunity to try some restaurants that you might other wise consider too pricey.  Have … (1 comments)
