The annual Wolf Trap Holiday Sing-a-long will take place this Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 4 p.m. in Vienna, Virginia.
The Sing-a-long features local choirs and vocal groups and the United States Marine Band. The music will be a mix of holiday favorites and includes both Christmas and Hanukkah favorites.
The event is free, but you are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys-for-Tots collection, if possible.
Bring along bells for the singing of 'Jingle Bells' and candle for the candlelight processional during the last verse of 'Silent Night.'

Taking the kids to see Santa is a family tradition for many. For some children, however, letting Santa know what they are dreaming of getting for Christmas is difficult.
Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA has established a special day for children who are deaf or have hearing loss. Today from 10 am to 9:30 pm, a Signing Santa and Mrs. Claus will welcome children who are deaf and hard of hearing and be able to communicate with them in American Sign Language.

Saturday, Decmeber 1, 2012 (tomorrow!) is the Wolf Trap Family Sing-A-Long! This event is a great way to get your family in the spirit of the holidays.
Featuring the United States Marine Corp band and choir and vocal groups from the metropolitan Washington area, the Sing-A-Long features Christmas, seasonal and Hanukkah songs.
The Sing-A-Long begins  at 4:00 p.m. , at the  Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, 1551 Trap Road, Vienna, Va. Best of all, it is free!

holiday events: Kick Off the 2012 Holidays at Reston Town Center, Reston, Virginia - 11/20/12 06:46 AM
The day after Thanksgiving, November 23 this year, is the official kick-off to the holiday season at Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia.

The fun begins with Black Friday shopping at 8 a.m.  There is a Gingerbread Man Mile, for the kids, that begins at 8:00 a.m., too (what better way to work off some of that food and energy leftover from Thanksgiving?).
Santa, who appears in the 11:00 a.m. parade,  will begin doing visits and photos at 12:30.
At 6:00 p.m., the Christmas Tree will be lit and there will be a Sing Along.

The packages are wrapped (hopefully!) the garland is strung, the cookies are made and the last couple of days before Christmas stretch before you. This might be a great time to plan some special holiday oriented outings.
Of course, one of the most well known is the National Christmas Tree on the Elipse. Located on the Elipse, in front of the white house, this is a visit that everyone in the area should make at least one--and even annually!

In late October, I published a blog about the annual Wolf Trap Holiday Sing-A-long. The date is now upon us! Tomorrow, Sunday, December 5, 2010 is the day of the concert. The fun begins at 4 p.m.
If you have never been, I highly recommend that you attend.  It takes place in the Filene Center and everyone comes bundled for cold weather, clutching their candles and bells.
The opportunity to hear the President's Own, the elite Marine Corp Band, is reason enough to go, but you will also have a chance to hear singers from local schools and choral groups sing.  Music is handed … (2 comments)

The 2010 Bull Run Festival of Lights and Winter Wonderland Holiday Village in Centreville, Virginia begins Wednesday, November 24th, 2010! So load your car full of family and friends (seat belts for all, of course) and head over to this unusual holiday light display. Yesterday I read a post by Todd Clark, Decided to take a tour of the Salt Lake Temple and wow, amazing! (A photo tour) and it reminded me that I had promised my family to do some research about the Festival of Lights show at the Washington D.C.Temple. The temple, which is visible from the Capital Beltway in Kennsington, MD, is known throughout the region for its majestic presence set above a curve in the, otherwise tedious I-495.
