I grew up in Reston, VA, swore I would never come back (who wants to return to their hometown after college? Not me!), and, instead I came back almost immediately. Since then, I have married, raised my kids (mostly--the youngest is 15), owned 4 houses over 24 years and loved the time I have spent here. So what keeps me here? The United States Karate Center, located on Isaac Newton Square in Reston, will offer the second self-defense course of the summer on Saturday, August 13 from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m.I was fortunate enough to participate in the first course organized by Master John Thomas. This weekend is the Herndon Festival in downtown, Herndon, Virginia. I wrote about the festival and the schedule of events in my post, Herndon Festival (Herndon, Virginia) Begins Tonight, 6/3/11. One thing I did not include was the surprise 'flash mob' that happened this weekend at the festival. It has been about one year since I began following a Gluten-Free diet.Whatever your reasons for eliminating Gluten from your diet, I wanted to share some of what I have learned about eating out, Gluten-Free in Northern Virginia. Monday the weather is supposed to be great, so make plans to get out and enjoy good music and good wine (and some beer, too) at the Herndon, Virginia Labor Day Jazz and Wine Festival.
A sampling of the wineries that will be present include: Peaks of Otter Winery, North Gate Vineyards, Cooper Vineyards, and Barboursville Vineyards.
