baltimore snow: Deer Visitor, Thanks For Stopping By - 02/11/21 02:24 PM
Yesterday was a busy and very productive day—multiple appointments, including meeting with two appraisers on my upcoming closings.
One was last-minute because we had snow in the forecast. So glad we were able to get the appointments all done.
Now the threat of snow does not bother me, because frequently it does not materialize.
But yesterday, I was able to get home before the frozen precipitation started.

And it was a beauty waking up! Snowing most of the night, I took these photos this morning, right from my desk.

And a bit later this afternoon, I took a photo of a deer visitor.

baltimore snow: First Snow Of The New Year - 01/13/19 07:03 AM
Such Beauty
The First Snowfall of the New Year!
This is what this morning in Baltimore looks like from my desk.
At noon today, I will be in the studio doing my live radio show.
My snow angel Tony was here earlier to plow me out. Not too long ago, it was grass cutting, mulching, gutter cleaning and leaf blowing. Today it is plowing, salting and shoveling...making it easy for me to get to the station. Thank you Tony for taking care of me, my neighbors and my home.  Just a few years ago  you were a life saver and drove me to the … (12 comments)

baltimore snow: Baltimore's Winter Weather Can Be A Challenge - 02/27/15 08:59 PM

Baltimore's Winter Weather

Can Be A Challenge

As a  Baltimore listing agent this winter has  been a challenge.
Making my own appointments allows me to check on  driveway conditions at the last minute.  Some houses cannot be shown until the plow arrives. Some houses cannot be shown because of  black ice or snow on steps and walkways.
I have driven by many of my listings this winter, prior to showing, to insure the safety of the buyers and agents.

Someone  looking at houses in these  weather conditions is most likely a serious buyer.

baltimore snow: Baltimore's Perfect Snow Day - 01/21/15 11:08 AM
Baltimore's Perfect Snow Day

What do I consider a perfect snow day in Baltimore?
Beauty with clean streets.

The day starts off with a trip to the gym with a light snow flurry.  My noon appointment did not cancel and we had a good showing at my
6606 Park Heights Condo #605.
The falling snow was beautiful from this six floor corner unit.

Since my 2:30 appointment canceled, I was able to confirm our reservation for tomorrow's
Baltimore MeetUp.

This is the view from my office window

baltimore snow: Baltimore Snow on Thursday Before Valentine's Day..A Long Weekend - 02/13/14 09:01 AM
Baltimore Snow Before Valentine's Day..A Long Weekend

Schools and almost everything else is closed today and tomorrow. With Monday being a holiday..this is going to be a long weekend.
My metal tape measure was good for something this morning. Good for measuring 13' of snow on my front porch.

Another winter storm that started last night around 8:00 still had time to get a contract ratified. Glad to get home...driving in the dark and in the snow is not the best idea.
Around midnight, I shoveled my front steps but this morning when I got up you … (14 comments)

baltimore snow: Time To Slow Down ....Like This Week in Baltimore - 01/29/11 03:54 PM
There are times that you just have to slow down a bit...like this week in Baltimore.
After reading  Gary Woltol's post , I found the reason for driving through the cemetery yesterday. It was time to sloooow down, to enjoy the beauty and not worry about the other cars or the narrow lanes or traffic or getting somewhere.
The peace and quiet.... awesome and the snow was gently falling...again.

As Gary says...."Life does not have to be zoom zoom. Slow down. You'll get there."
The feathered critters were still there and some  literally walked on water. I thought for … (14 comments)

baltimore snow: Snowmen...Baltimore Style... Some Assembly Required - 01/28/11 08:34 AM
It was not an easy job clearing our driveway..even with two neighbor kids, shovels and a snow blower. It was still an all day project.

Some of the birds have come back to their brand new homes filled with new seed.

The picture below is in answer to Pat Haddad's comment...''Margaret--Wow!  Did you get some snow!  I must be missing something, but I am not seeing the snowman that I am sure you had time to build since the neighbor did your driveway for you!''
Pat, Here are my snowmen...some assembly … (15 comments)

baltimore snow: Power Outages in Baltimore...Call 1-877-778-2222 - Don't assume BGE Knows - 01/27/11 02:59 AM
This is a power line in Baltimore covered with wet heavy snow. And this weight is what is causing the power outages all over our area. This winter beauty also brings with it danger.

These two articles are from  last year's Baltimore blizzard...
This is my neighbor Moishe Reches who knocked on my door a few minutes ago asking to shovel my steps and driveway. I was all ready to go out and start up the snow blower and make use of my shovel...already outside the door.
Moshe took my ready shovel and began his much appreciated work. Take … (16 comments)

baltimore snow: One More Photo Tonight...Heavy Snow - 01/26/11 04:06 PM
Had to take one more photo tonight just to show you the weight of the snow.

Our weather today in Baltimore was most unusual.  This morning snow, then clear, then rain, then sleet, then heavy snow and the latest is wind. These are the branches of my shade tree that also hold three bird feeders. That is a lot of weight... as you can see the branches are down on my porch chair.
This is a serious problem with power lines. Please check this … (21 comments)

baltimore snow: Talk Turns to Weather in Baltimore - 01/26/11 01:07 PM
When you live on the east coast and it is winter, sometimes talk turns to the weather..like this morning in Baltimore's was supposed to be rain. And we actually did have rain for a good portion of the day but now we are in a real winter storm with high winds.
I went out to shovel the front steps ..ha...changed my mind after just two pushes...that stuff is wet and VERY heavy. Instead decided to capture a bit of this magnificent beauty.

baltimore snow: What About This Looks Like Rain? - 01/26/11 01:58 AM
What About This Looks Like Rain?  When I went to bed last night, the forecast was for rain because the temperatures were way to high for snow. So I got up at my usual 5:30 to get ready for the gym, looked outside.....
Now please tell me what about this looks like rain?

Yesterday, my birds got new homes...new feeders and filled to the brim with food. Such perfect timing..only now I have to wait for them to return. Guess they liked the old busted up feeders better.  Even my  Greedy little furry friends … (22 comments)

baltimore snow: And My Street is Not Even Plowed! Baltimore is Not Just for the Birds! - 02/08/10 02:25 PM
When you are snowed in for 3 days and my street is not even plowed, you find things to amuse you. The absolute beauty is overwhelming. Look at the colors of this cardinal. Is this a perfect red, white and blue photo?      The reason I have two bird feeders with the same food.. the squirrels don't know these containers are squirrel proof. This little guy certainly does not look underfed. So what does this have to do with real estate? Why Advertising is For the Birds
And more beauty right outside my window..icicle sculptures and winter trees.
OK so there is a bit of work … (25 comments)

baltimore snow: Baltimore Snow is For the Birds! - 02/06/10 07:23 AM
Baltimore Snow is For the Birds!
Where is my driveway? Where are my steps?

B                                                                            Don't you love my beautiful supervisors?

                     Winter chair "cushions"

I found my steps buried under a few feet of snow!

I had such good plans! We had plenty of warning about this blizzard and record breaking snowfall. So prepared I was....last night I went out and shoveled the 2-3 inches of snow from my driveway and front steps. Not too bad, it was a heavy snow.  Yes, I was going to stay ahead of this one. Figuring if I did this every … (44 comments)
