flat stanley: Flat Caleb Finds the Perfect Pal...says Good Bye to Baltimore! - 05/07/07 12:36 PM

It was great, but I had to let him go. Flat Caleb was always willing to go along on any adventure and meet new people. He was the perfect houseguest and I'll miss him, but he's moved on to his next host, Mariana Wagner in Colorado.
We couldn't just ship him off, of course. There had to be a party!
I found him, as usual, hard at work in the office, alternating between the computer and fax. With a busy day almost done, he needed a brief rest so he took a snooze and then jumped in the tub for a … (13 comments)

flat stanley: Flat Caleb Meets Fluffy, and Cupcake Chews His Arm Off - 05/07/07 09:03 AM
Caleb's seen a lot of Baltimore already, but on one day he encountered two creatures closer to his size. One was fluffy, one was cuddly, and he will never be the same.
We started by getting together with friends in a local park for some fresh air and to meet their adorable new daughter, recently adopted from Russia. Lauren and Marco recorded their adventures and misadventures with foreign adoption in a blog, and have started another to share life with "Cupcake", their little girl's screen name. It was a beautiful morning, and Cupcake decided Caleb was just delicious. Good thing he's … (6 comments)

flat stanley: Flat Caleb Found the Mother Lode of Active Rain Fruits - 05/06/07 12:28 PM
Caleb Found the Mother Lode of Active Rain Fruits
Caleb came with me to show my listing at  8203 Stevenson Rd. Baltimore, Maryland 21208  He had a great time exploring. I'll tell you more about that later. But his big discovery of the day was the source of AR fruits...and most of them were just his size. First, he found a bowl of oranges on a table.  Nice, but a little big for him.

Then he noticed a strangely quiet - and very small - baby in a high chair, and realized the little one was chowing down on fruit!  Oh boy, Active Rain … (13 comments)

flat stanley: Flat Caleb Does Baltimore...Hon! - 05/04/07 03:49 PM
It was a typical Type E day for Caleb and me.  It started with an early trip to the gym for a workout where Tamara who greeted us, checked us in, and said with a beautiful smile, "Enjoy your workout." Then I introduced him to my personal trainer, John Vargo, who makes my workout fun (well, maybe not so fun), challenging and never boring. He changes the routine every day. I never know what machine or exercise I will be doing next - the variety keeps me focused and holds my interest. Caleb said it was kind of tough lifting those weights with a … (10 comments)

flat stanley: Flat Caleb Gets High - 05/02/07 04:35 AM
It was another glorious day, and Caleb really wanted to go to the airport. He's been asking all week to see our Beechcraft Baron, so off we went. N17577 is hangared at Martin State Airport at Strawberry Point.

Sixty years ago the area was buzzing with activity as the Glenn L. Martin Company turned out planes for World War II including over 500 B-29's, one of which was the Enola Gay.  The company also produced seaplanes and amphibians, and you can still see the launching ramps that run down to the water of Middle River.
These days the airport is home to … (21 comments)

flat stanley: Tiptoe Through .... with Caleb - 05/01/07 08:28 AM
Caleb's getting plenty of fresh air and sunshine during his visit to Baltimore.  Not to worry – I'm making sure he has a good sunscreen on since he didn't bring any other clothes. We don't get many perfect spring days in Baltimore, but the other day was sunny, breezy, and in the low 70's. Just right for another jaunt with my visitor. We took advantage of the great weather to visit Sherwood Gardens where the azaleas and tulips were glorious!

The gardens were begun in 1927 by John Sherwood, a local petroleum pioneer and conservationist. What started as a hobby … (10 comments)

flat stanley: Why Do You Have Caleb In Your Pants? - 04/29/07 03:03 PM
Why Do You Have Caleb In Your Pants?

That was the question Deborah Aiken asked as we entered her Daiken Design booth to view her hand made glass jewelry and accessories.
It was one of many times that I explained Flat Caleb as a take off on Flat Stanley.
As Colleen told us in her post, Flat Stanley is a popular children's book about the adventures of a boy who is flattened accidentally. A Canadian schTool teacher, Dale Hubert, began the Flat Stanley Project and 1995, and now there are several versions of Stanley around the world, including our own Active Rain … (26 comments)

flat stanley: Flat Caleb Arrived in Baltimore - 04/28/07 01:09 AM

Flat Caleb arrived safely in Baltimore. Thanks Nick 'Duh' Appraiser.
"As Colleen told us in her post, Flat Stanley is a popular children's book about the adventures of a boy who is flattened accidentally. A Canadian school teacher, Dale Hubert, began the Flat Stanley Project and 1995, and now there are several versions of Stanley around the world, including our own Active Rain Flat Stanley Project. In typical Active Rain style, Colleen wasn't content with one Flat Dude, but created five Flats and sent them out to experience our worlds. Caleb arrived for his visit in Baltimore having survived - barely! - … (28 comments)
