Emotions don’t belong here in Real Estate. It’s like playing poker.
How you act and treat others during a negotiation affects your reputation. Keep YOUR emotions, and YOUR client’s outside of the transaction. Maybe we shouldn’t be negotiating when we are under stress, tired, hangry, or busy with other things. Ha, that’s not possible! Busy brokers are always working with many balls in the air at the same time. Being aware of how you come across can be the life or death of a transaction. Buyers and sellers can be stressed to the max while in the middle of making this big decision.
It takes minutes to learn the rules but it takes a lifetime to master the game of poker. This is true of real estate and many other things in life. Have you watched a professional ice skater spinning, twirling and gliding across the ice with, seemingly, little effort?
Have you watched an amateur skater trying those same moves with great difficulty? It takes many years of practice, coaching and training before it looks easy.

How is real estate like poker? ”It takes minutes to learn the game and a lifetime to master it.” It's true of poker, and I think it is also true of real estate and many other professions. My friend who is a personal trainer saw Oprah interviewing someone who lost lots of weight and used a personal trainer to help get her back in shape. The newly slim woman loved the trainer so much and praised the way she helped.
