treo: Yes I do Answer Blocked Caller ID! - 05/01/09 10:28 PM
We've talked about this before, but I recently got a strong reminder of why it is an important discussion. Yes I do answer my phone; I answer if I don't recognize the number, and I answer "blocked calls." If it turns out to be a telemarketer I can always add the number as a " spam" call  and hit the "Ignore" button next time (a huge timesaver.) But it is worth it to catch interested clients, as happened this week.
I had an email this week from my IDX site asking questions about an active listing. I responded with the answers to the specific … (117 comments)

treo: You Can Get There From Here…Baltimore's Bay Café - 08/30/08 12:37 PM
Allen Hainge and Ellie Palmer were driving over to Baltimore from Reston, VA to meet us for lunch. Great. And I knew exactly how to get to the Bay Café, but it's difficult to explain to someone who doesn't know that area of Baltimore where streets don't all go in a nice, neat, criss-cross grid. This is near the harbor, and some streets have been there for literally hundreds of years. They turn at odd angles, and some are one way.
But thanks to a neat feature of the Treo, I could get directions by sending a text message to … (12 comments)

treo: Treo, Treo, Everywhere! - 12/04/07 08:26 AM
It was a Treo-full day at GBBR. And when it was over, every agent who attended the SmartPhone Smart User seminar had a new bag of tips and tricks for using the indispensable tool of our trade.
The guru of mobile devices, Dick Betts, led the seminar that focused on Windows and Palm-based Treos. He also talked about the Blackberry and iPhone, but there was no question that for real estate, the Treo rules. With this one device, you have a phone, calendar, calculator, computer, camera, email, iPod, and more, all in the palm of your hand.
Most of the class … (64 comments)

treo: Are You a Smartphone SmartUser? - 11/24/07 06:27 AM
At the end of the year I try to look at what I'm doing in my business and figure out if there's a better, easier, more effective way. With technology being such a large part of real estate these days, my computer and other devices get some serious attention.
I know that I could not be as effective as I am – as a solo agent – without all my tech tools, but especially my Treo.  The question is, am I getting everything out of it I can? I'm not sure, but on December 3 I'll find out.

That's the day I'm … (48 comments)

treo: Colorful ..Not Pretty! - 02/23/07 03:27 PM
NOT a Pretty Picture ..This is my smashed Treo!

It began a couple of weeks ago. The world of technology seemed to be turning against me. First my trusty Treo started having an identity crisis, some of the features not working, so I began looking for a backup on eBay just in case. That was before I dropped the phone a couple of days ago and created this colorful display. I do not consider this a pretty picture.
And also before my wonderful tech was able to coax what was left of the phone to sync to my computer - … (40 comments)

treo: My Technology Habit - 10/07/06 11:52 AM
A couple of months ago Joeann Fossland asked me some questions about what part technology plays in my business. The answer is…Huge! One of the advantages of working solo is that I only have to plan for my own needs. This way I can react to not only what's happening in my market but also in the very important rest of my life with family and friends. I'm a believer in living in the moment – this doesn't mean I don't plan, but it's not the top of the list. When it comes to technology I react to what I need, not … (3 comments)

treo: Technology and Being Better at What We Do - 07/08/06 11:41 AM
Technology and Being Better at What We Do Yesterday I did one of my favorite things – I shared knowledge and experience with a group of fellow real estate professionals. The Maryland State Chapter of The Women’s Council of Realtors sponsored “A Day of Education”, and I was pleased to be asked to present on “The Internet for Agents”.
What realtors do is actually very low-tech – we list, sell, and get to the settlement table. That’s it. At the beginning of the session I held up a blank sheet of paper and a pen, and said that these are all I … (36 comments)
