I was on my way to work this morning and decided to drive by Lawson Creek Park on the Trent River and watch the fisherman go out before work and enjoy the crisp morning.  The nights this week have cooled off, giving us a glimmer of the crisp fall weather that's not too far away.
I went past the docks and ended up at Jack's Island, when I noticed a young lady and two dogs playing at the edge of the river.  I think they were from Massachusetts.

A new law in North Carolina will affect students in Craven County including those that attend public, private and those participating in home schooling.
Students who are twelve years old, in the sixth grade and who have not had a TDAP(tetanus,diphtheria, and acellular pertussis) booster shot in the last five years will be required to provide documentation that they have received the booster shot recently.
Officials at the Craven County Board of Education told me that a letter was sent home to all fifth grade student's homes, last Spring to make parents aware of the new law and it's implications for the 2008-2009 school … (0 comments)

Well, the summer is quickly passing us by here in eastern North Carolina.  I guess we have all been enjoying the beaches and rivers, watching the Kinston Indians play baseball, and enjoying all the things that make the New Bern area a great place to live.
I went by a parking lot full of schools buses Friday and thought that they will be on the road again very soon.

A new development named "RiverShore" has been announced for the Bridgeton, NC area.  These lots are located around the area known as "Sandy Point".
This new sub-division will have about 44 lots with water and sewer.  Each lot will have a boat slip as well according to Mark Johnson, with Clear Water Marketing. 
The kick off date will be June 28th and a limited number of reservations are being excepted.  The cost will start at about $89,900 and continue into the mid $100,000's.
This area will have easy access to New Bern via the Neuse River Bridge and U.S. Hwy 17.

The New Bern area is growing all around us.  We can see the numerous road construction projects, we read about the new housing developments and the discussion of a new high school continues.
The subject of a new high school located between Havelock and New bern was recently discussed by the Craven County Board of Education and the Craven County Board of Commissioners.
The need for this new facility has gained momentum with the recently announced military personnel build up slated for Cherry Point.

The average list price over the past 6 months was  $271,112 and the average sale price was $265,112.
The average days on the market was 142 days.
The average number of houses sold in the past 6 months was 11.5 per month.

Brices Creek is an area that has seen significant growth in the past several years.  This "out in the country" area is not really country anymore.  Several nice developments have been implimented in this area south of James City and east of the Trent River.

We have started hearing more information about a new development being planned for Bridgeton, N.C.  The development, known as Bridgeton Harbor, is in the works for the small town across the Neuse River from New Bern, N.C.
The developer, Jupiter USA, headquartered in Florida, has been discussing their plans in the local media for a large proposed new development.  Perhaps as much as 1000 acres have been acquired to be the site of a marina, yacht club and various retail/commercial ventures .  In addition perhaps as many as 800+ new residential dwelling will exist on the property when the development is finished.
