I have watched the sandhill cranes on my property for years, since birth, to teen to adult and with mates. They are always fun to watch, but I thought they were just cranes. I find out that they are called sandhill cranes. Florida sandhill cranes are a threaten species and their feathers are grayish color with reddish eyes. Now the whooping crane is an endangered bird, and its feathers are white with yellowish eyes.
