There ha been strong year-over-year growth in Toronto condominium apartment sales reported through TREB’s MLS® System in the third quarter of 2015. Sales were up by close to 11 % to 6,586 compared to Q3 2014. New listings entered into the System during the quarter and active listings at the end of the quarter were also up on an annual basis, but by a lesser rate compared to sales.

First time buyers are driving the housing market but are increasingly turning to credit to afford the downpayment on a new home. A report from the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals found that in the past 27 months 45 per cent of the 620,000 homes sold across Canada were bought by first time buyers. Most are between 25 and 34 years old, were typically employed full-time and confident about job security. Almost two thirds believe that a mortgage is “good debt”.
