I am so proud to be a part of Home for Heroes and that I am able to give back to our Heroes in a way that truly benefits them. I no longer wear my service uniform, but I am very honored to be able to serve those who do! My father, a volunteer Fire Chief for 30 years, and my mother, a school teacher, taught me the importance of giving back to the community you live in. Over the years I’ve volunteered what hours I could for local community civic clubs and organizations that helped others. When I was introduced to the Homes for Heroes program it was a perfect fit for how I was raised and a very easy way for me to give back while at work. I’m honored to be a part of such a fantastic program that recognizes local heroes and gives back to those who (0 comments)

wa: Welcome Kris Crane, Lender - Snohomish, WA

I was born and raised on a military base during the Viet Nam War. My father was superintendent of schools for 41 years, I was a Navy wife, my sister works for the County Sherriff, my father-in-law spent his whole life serving in the Armed Forces, and I have needed a medical hero during my heart surgery. I have seen what it takes to be a hero. I saw first-hand the struggles of the families who were transferred and whose children didn’t have a home to call their own. Their fathers were deployed; wives were alone in the delivery room. My (0 comments)

wa: Paula Nirschln- Branch Manager - Guild Mortgage Company - Vancouver, WA
- 09/14/13 07:29 AM
When I first heard about the Homes for Heroes Program I knew it would be a perfect fit for Guild Mortgage, a company that encourages it employees to engage and volunteer in the community. I am committed to giving back to all those “Heroes” who support us all each day as members of our military; and as police officers, firefighters, educators and healthcare workers.
On a personal level I am also inspired by my grandfather, John Hanke. He was killed serving on the Intrepid in WW II working in the radar room when the carrier was struck on November (1 comments)

I saw an article the other day about how a town changed the name of a street because the street name was causing problems for the residents. Deliveries were not being made, and there were numerous indecent exposures going on at all times of day. No, don't worry, we at Homes for Heroes have not run into any problems. So that must have you asking yourselves, how could a street name cause that much grief? Is it a new road? Nope. That would be too easy. Such as "Ruby Tuesday Dr." named after one of the Rolling Stones songs. But in (1 comments)
