greenwood: What's Your Passion? - 05/22/11 05:09 AM
I am a firm believer in living what you love, loving what you do, and not settling for anything less than excellence.
The trick, of course, is actually achieving those goals.
Think about what you really, truly love. Typically, you do that activity well. It makes you feel exhilerated and fulfilled. But there may be that little voice in your head that says "Oh, I couldn't really do this for my life's work. It wouldn't pay me anything. It's not practical. I have  a family to think of now. I couldn't walk away from everything and start over again."
Have you … (7 comments)

greenwood: Have You Written Your Week's Goals Yet? - 01/30/11 03:00 PM
It's Sunday evening...again.
This past week, I passed the Indiana Broker's exam, ordered new signs, met with a Buyer's agent, bought some office supplies, helped with homework, did laundry, interviewed a roofer/handyman, went to the grocery store, revised the budget, and did a lot of cooking and cleaning.
So why do I feel like I haven't done anything?
I'm a list maker, as is my partner. We work best when we have a tick list of things to do, to investigate, to take care of. There is nothing more satisfying to us than to check an item off the list.

greenwood: 10 Top Indiana Winter Motivational Activities - 01/22/11 05:36 AM
This is becoming an annual blog topic for me. As the weather turns frigid (3 degrees) and as the landscape becomes a dirty white and the skies remain gray, it is hard to turn on the motivation. So to help me out of a not-very-tropical depression this time every year, I focus on what CAN be done, as opposed to what isn't happening right now.
10. Clean up the office
I know it sounds cliche, but you would be amazed at how this helps. Even if you keep a very neat and tidy workspace to begin with, just going through … (2 comments)

greenwood: Happy New Year! - 01/15/11 06:52 PM
I was commenting just the other day how my father said that there was never a day that he dd not want to be at the clothing store he owned. At the time I was much younger but even then realized how lucky he was to be able to work at what he loved.
I am reminded of this Bible quote:
When God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work -- this is a gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 5:19  (New International Version)

greenwood: IU Basketball: Why The Zeller Family Would Be Perfect Real Estate Clients - 11/12/10 04:08 AM
If you follow Indiana, Big 10, or college basketball at all then you are aware of the hype surrounding the decision of 17 year old Washington (IN) high school basketball star as to where to attend college, which also means where to bring his Top 20 bball skills. Cody has been a much favored pick of most any college program. Eventually he narrowed his decision to three great universities: Indiana, Butler, and North Carolina.
Yesterday, after his father thanked each of the schools and their coaches for their time as well as pointing out the respective strengths of the basketball  programs and … (0 comments)

greenwood: Johnson County, Indiana, Continues To Grow - 06/12/10 05:43 PM
According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates Johnson County is the 7th fastest growing county in Indiana.  This is based upon the 200 census data that is supplemented by birth certificates, death records, and known data regarding movement into and out of the county.
Johnson County grew approximately 2-3% annually from 2000-2009. Although Indiana has not been immune from the economic downturn, most areas of the state have fared better than many other regions.
Greenwood, Indiana is the northern most city in Johnson County.  In 2009 there were 224 new hom permits issued in Johnson County, 60 of which were issued by Greenwood. So … (0 comments)

greenwood: The Price of Progress - 03/18/10 02:09 AM
Northern Johnson County, Indiana, is one of the fastest growing areas in Central Indiana. It has great school systems, an educated workforce, wonderful neighborhoods, an awesome trail system, Parks and Recreation, a thriving Arts community,  and is family friendly.
All of the above means more families moving into the Greenwood/Center Grove area and that means, of course, MORE TRAFFIC.
And so, one of the major North/South arteries is being  widened.
Now don't get me wrong, SR 135 needs to be widened in the 5 mile stretch or so that is being worked on. Unfortuntely, I use this route multiple times a day … (6 comments)

greenwood: Advanced City Planning - 03/16/10 03:34 PM
The City of Greenwood has now decided that it would be to limit access and to route traffic on the busy SR 135 corridor to service roads whenever possible. Well, duh!
Currently, one can exit and enter this major north/south artery via multiple access points: side streets, traffic signals, driveways, fast food drive throughs, etc. Yes, there are some turn lanes but not nearly enough. And yes, there are some sevice roads, but again, not nearly enough.
Now Greenwood, Indiana does not nearly have the traffic congestion of L.A., D.C., NYC, Chicago, or even the north side of Indianapolis. But during rush … (1 comments)
