Southern Village was developed in the early 90's and was a new concept for Chapel Hill. The plan was to build a "new old neighborhood" reminiscent of the way people lived in the early part of the 20th century. There would be a Main Street (now Market Street) with shops restaurants and small businesses. Homes would have front porches and alleys for the garages in back. Success! The opening reception for the new satellite gallery for the at the CBHPW office in Chapel Hill (that's Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston in case you wondered) was a true success. Over 100 guests attended. We had wine and food on both levels of the office. At one point in the evening I was upstairs and wanted a break from the crowd so I went to downstairs gallery area. Last night Briar Chapel Hosted a special dinner celebration at Fearrington House for Realtors who have supported the neighborhood.The focus of the evening was food, fun, and wine. Representatives of the builders were there. Shirley from Vanguard Homes was really happy about a weekend sale. Her buyer had been waiting to sell her home before she could buy and it finally happened!

Briar Chapel does a great job keeping in front of the public. Thursday night Vanguard Homes in Briar Chapel had a reception for those who have contributed to their success in the neighborhood. I've shown their homes and have interested buyers so I stopped by. The company is recoverin g from a hard time and is actively building again.It was a nice event with good food and wine. I met several new homeowners who are really happy with the neighborhood and another couple who are just getting started with the building process.
