accountability: ACCOUNTABLE CULTURE - 10/02/22 06:43 PM
If you want to change the accountability start with working on changing the culture. The best way to create an accountability culture is to help people to accept accountability. The best way to accomplish this is by motivating them to be accountable. Understanding what motivates a person, whether it be rewards, recognition, promotion, or feeling that something is accomplished will result in developing that accountability attitude. However, you will have continued failure if you do nothing and refuse to hold people accountable for results.
How does a manager hold members of the staff responsible for performance? What about an employee who needs … (24 comments)

accountability: WE NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FIRST FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW - 12/19/21 08:50 PM
For those agents who are solo I would simply add to the discussion below the following question.  Who is your accountability partner?  We all need one.  And if you have team members then the following will apply to your organization.  Incidentally, by organization I also mean the strategic alliance of professionals who assist in a transaction.
How do you create a culture of accountability? Check your leaders. Who are the perceived heroes in your organization? What values do they exhibit by their actions?
Try this. Write down the culture for which you want to strive. What actions and values create that culture? Do … (19 comments)

accountability: WHAT IS IN IT FOR THE AGENTS IN THE BROKERAGE - 08/29/21 08:33 PM
Retention of employees is a major concern of Westchester employers. The changes in the last year have necessitated taking a new look at accountability.  The same is true for real estate brokers.
Accountability is a two-way street, and it is important for team members to understand WIIFM (What’s in it for me.) Today’s team members want opportunities to grow and develop and have real accountability for results.
Creating accountability by developing an employee value proposition takes planning, effort, and management commitment. Here are a few things you can do to start.
Establish expectations from the start.

accountability: WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME HELPS ACCOUNTABILITY SOAR - 03/01/20 07:02 PM

The best way to get people to do want you want done is helping them see what is in it for them. That's WIIFM! One way to do this is to give people the pride of ownership in their work. When that happens, they own and take pride in results and they feel accountability for getting it right and they take responsibility when it is not right.
If you are frustrated with the results of your team, here are two questions that you need to ask yourself. First, have you provided them with the tools to succeed? Second, have you clearly communicated … (23 comments)

accountability: ACCOUNTABILITY MAKES THE TEAM WORK - 12/08/19 09:16 PM

Achievers are always accountable for results. And leadership fails when the leader does not hold all team members accountable. I am sure you have heard that many times before. You might have even heard it from a boss you had imploring you to “hold them accountable.” Some people see this as a problem. They fear that holding people accountable will hurt relationships. In reality, it requires more skilled relation building over mutually agreed to goals.
Creating a culture of accountability requires collaboration, communication of goals, and understanding the nature of motivation. Having conversations about accountability should be combined with empowering your team … (30 comments)

accountability: ACCOUNTABLE LEADERS CREATE ACCOUNTABLE TEAMS - 07/21/19 08:02 PM

If you want to know why your team is not accountable for results you might want to look at  how you are helping them become accountable.  You would want to start by creating a culture of accountability. The best way to accomplish is to create the culture where teams feel motivated to achieve goals. Dwight Eisenhower said, “Leadership is getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.”   Many times, we fear having a discussion about results and performance because we feel we will not change behavior and we might create alienation. However, we … (30 comments)

accountability: DOES YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER HELP YOU? - 08/02/15 11:44 AM
If you are a high achiever you are accountable for results.  You say what you will do and ask others to hold you to it.
In an organization the person who holds you accountable would be your manager.  But if you are in  business for yourself you must hold yourself accountable.  One way to do that is to have an accountability partner.   Creating a culture of accountability requires collaboration, communication of goals, and understanding the nature of motivation.
Having conversations about accountability with your partner requires several things. First, you need to communicate the goals and the desired outcomes. Second, you … (27 comments)

accountability: DO YOU HOLD YOUR TEAM ACCOUNTABLE? - 06/21/15 02:08 PM
If you are a broker, branch manager, or any type of team leader you are accountable.  To begin with you have compliance issues as well as commitments to customers and upholding the brand.  But when you have a team of independent people you will not be successful giving directives.  No, you have to motivate them.
Dwight Eisenhower said, “Leadership is getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.”    Many times we fear having a discussion about results and performance because we feel we will not change behavior and we might create alienation. However, … (27 comments)

HINDSIGHT IS 20/20
It's true. In looking back on where I have been and what I have done, it is so easy to see where I should have done things differently-how things could have turned out better if only I would have made better decisions. If you're like me, you sometimes wish … (2 comments)

accountability: IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO ACHIEVE RESULTS - 03/17/13 04:43 AM
What results do you need to achieve success?  Do you need more sales or more profits?  Do you need to update your marketing or create marketing?  Do you need to update or create a better infrastructure in order to get to the next level?  Regardless of how you answer these questions one fact is abundantly clear.  It is the people who achieve results.  That is true for any size organization and it is also true if you are a sole practitioner.   Let’s start with you and your personal leadership.
Ask yourself these questions:

accountability: ENGAGE YOUR EMPLOYEE TEAMS THROUGH ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESULTS - 03/09/13 02:26 PM
Like many of you I have read articles about Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer’s decision to discontinue allowing work at home.  As of June all employees must come to an office.  Whatever you think about the decision one thing is very clear.  Teams of employees need to be accountable for results.  In the case of Yahoo, Mayer had discovered that employees were not being held accountable.  How did she know?  She looked at data which showed that very little work was being done through the company’s online systems.  The results lately at Yahoo have been lagging other tech companies.  The decision may … (5 comments)
