two way communication: PLAN YOUR MESSAGE VERY CAREFULLY - 01/23/22 06:59 PM
During these times we are hearing plenty of messaging. Although it is intended to inform much of it confuses. I have been finding recently that people are confused and to the point that they want to shoot the messenger.
These are times of turmoil. Productivity almost always suffers in times like these because employee stress dramatically increases due to the universal fear of the unknown. We are seeing this all over. In our organizations leaders struggle with crafting the clear message. Many times, they believe they are communicating with employees when it comes to matters that affect them. Unfortunately, they often underestimate … (29 comments)

two way communication: TWO EARS AND ONE MOUTH - 11/24/19 07:52 PM

It is true that we have two ears and one mouth. We should listen at least twice as much than we talk. Unfortunately, many times during a conversation we concentrate on our talking points rather than being guided by what we are hearing.
This is not the best way be persuasive and certainly not a good way to communicate. I was on the receiving end of a conversation. It went like this…
I was questioning a salesperson about comparable features offered by two different iPhone telecommunications carriers. During the conversation I pointed out that one carrier had an additional benefit. The benefit was … (32 comments)

two way communication: ARE YOU FAILING TO COMMUNICATE? - 06/23/19 07:38 PM

What we have here is a failure to communicate! That line from Cool Hand Luke highlights the consequences of miscommunication. Lack of real communication is one of the biggest causes of dysfunctional relationships in our business and personal lives.
In real estate sales as with all sales we communicate to impart information and, in the process, influence and urge action.  Although our objective is to do just that, sometimes, in fact often, we do not get the response we expect.
One powerful reason for this failure is that we talk more than we listen. We are so concerned with making our own … (22 comments)

two way communication: HOW ARE YOU COMMUNICATING? - 12/11/16 09:22 PM

Lack of Communication can cause all types of problems.  It affects our personal relationships and our business relationships.
Think about the last time you did something but it did not turn out as you expected.  Chances are it had something to do with your communication.  Perhaps you have learned from this and gotten a "Do Over" that you would like to share in this month's contest.  For those who haven't, here are some thoughts to consider.

We communicate to get an expected response from someone else. But sometimes, in fact often, we do not get the response we expect.
One powerful reason for … (44 comments)

two way communication: LISTEN BEFORE YOU ANSWER THAT QUESTION - 08/24/14 09:51 PM
During your buying/selling process you want to connect with the other person.  You need to develop rapport by listening to what the other person is saying?  That makes sense but have you ever asked a saleperson a question about a product only to receive an answer that has nothing to do with the question you asked?  The salesperson was probably more interested in selling you something and really was not focused on your wants and needs. recently had a similar experience.
I was interested in upgrading my smart phone so I spoke with a telecommunications salesperson here in Westchester County NY.  … (46 comments)

two way communication: WHY YOU MUST COMMUNICATE YOUR VISION TO YOUR TEAM - 08/17/13 10:37 PM
“What we have here is a failure to communicate!”
That line from Cool Hand Luke sums up a common problem. In order to have progress of any kind we must communicate. Since we do not live in a vacuum we cannot run our business or our lives that way. Often, in our experience, when we find an organization that is struggling we almost always discover that poor or non-existent communication is one of the major causes.
An effective leader communicates clearly. However, an outstanding or great leader does more. The outstanding leader does that plus inspires others to want to … (5 comments)
