Ask a business owner how it is going. You might get the answer, “very busy.” Is that a good thing? It depends. If it means lots of customers and revenue that is a good thing. Many times, it means that they are so busy just keeping the business running. In this case the business is running them.

I am working with a client who owns a Property and Casualty Insurance Agency.  She says she want "partners" as she terms it.  However, she does not exhibit that behavior in managing. The behavior is a habit that has come from her experience.
She was burnt once before and now she is afraid to be burnt again. I explained that the candidate for operations manager would be an excellent performer. But the candidate won’t accept the position if she feels ownership will not trust her or that ownership will micromanage.
