Huntsville's premier mobile notary public services celebrated it's first year in business this month. Owner and operator, Michelle Riley, travels throughout Huntsville and Madison county to witness and notarize documents for customers who find it necessary (or simply convenient) to have legal documents notarized in the comfort of their own homes. During the summer months, Michelle frequently receives requests to notarize applications for passports and authorizations for minor children to travel without a parent. When was the last time you checked a Notary's credentials? Last year? Never? If not, you should and it's easier than you think. In Alabama a person can access the Secretary's of State website (http://arc-sos.state.al.us/CGI/sosnot01.mbr/input) and find out if a notary public who is about to notarize adoption papers, medical release forms (or any other important legal document), is authorized to do so. The Secretary of State Inquiry System is a database that contains the name, address and commission information for all Alabama Notaries. You will find a notary's start and end date for his commission, as well as the names of the counties (2 comments)

I called Aunt Rose last week to wish her a ‘bon voyage' on her trip to France. My 84 year old aunt is always going somewhere. But this year she almost didn't make it past the ticket counter. Why? Her old U.S. Passport had expired and she was still waiting for it to be renewed and mailed to her.
