home staging: Are all Home Staging Companies created equal? - 12/29/09 12:12 PM
We Stage Greater Detroit, professional home staging professional master, Carolyn Stieger would like to address the difference between Home Staging and Interior Design
Home Staging is not Interior Design. See the Wikipedia condensed definitions for both categories below.
Home staging is the act of preparing a private residence for sale in the real estate marketplace. The goal of staging is to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers, thereby selling a property more swiftly and for more money. Staging techniques focus on improving a property's appeal by transforming it into a welcoming, attractive product that anyone might … (0 comments)

We Stage Greater Detroit goes beyond Home Staging, we also offer Senior Move Services.  Our services can start the day the offer is accepted.  Your seller is under pressure to get the move started and get it finished by the closing date.  Our goal is to work within the sellers time frame to move before they have to pay for additional days to "rent back" their house they just sold.
Senior Move Services can manage the project from down sizing through the entire move.  We Stage Greater Detroit takes the worry out of the move.  By assisting with the sorting, decisions on what … (1 comments)

home staging: StagersList Expo Indianapolis September 29th - 09/29/09 02:43 PM
StagerList Expo Indianapolis -  What a great experience today!  The tips and tricks that were shared today were incredible.  Staging is an industry that is so new and there needs to be more education to the public and Realtors to understand how to present our added value as team members to the Realtor listing proposals.
Listening to Realtors that utilize Home Stagers share their real life experiences.  Top producers with a 98.5% selling price to listing price results, raving about Home Stagers as their team members!  This will be my new LinkenIn request:  I'm looking for Realtors in the greater Detroit (Southeast Michgian)area that want … (3 comments)

home staging: Home Staging Shows - What do home owners think? - 03/21/09 11:53 AM
I just previewed a home that has been on the market for over 1 year. The price has dropped over $100,000 during that time. I was invited by the Realtor to see if I could make some recommendation to the home owners for this 4000 ++ sq ft home. The homeowner must have watched a Home Staging Show using vignettes. Almost every room had a couple of pieces in one corner or another. Mirrors and artwork was hung so low that the top of the frame was below my eye level. There is so much more to Staging. If this property … (1 comments)

home staging: Pay It Forward Helping your clients and others - 08/17/08 02:31 PM
You've seen and heard of Pay It Forward.  I really believe in this and how we can help so many people because we touch so many lives in our business.  I have recently seen this first hand how we can help.  When we think of donating furniture, so many times we go to the Salvation Army and drop off unwanted itmes.
Did you know there are other organizations that can use our help!  We have a Furniture Bank in Southeast Michigan that can really use donations to help families from all walks of life.  Families are referred to the Furniture Bank and they can select donated furniture to help set … (0 comments)

home staging: Ethics in Home Staging - Are They Out There Somewhere? - 08/17/08 01:40 PM
There is a new focus on Ethics and as an ASPM our International Association of Home Staging Professionals has a Code of Ethics just as Realtors do.
Who pays attention to Ethics?  I hope every professional Home Stager is paying attention.  If we don't have our morals and ethics when we conduct our business what kind of name are we building for ourselves?  Home Staging is so new to our region that we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard everyday when we conduct our business.  I have built my business on excellent customer service and referrals, after 11 years in business working in clients homes … (2 comments)

home staging: Michigan Service Tax - 10/07/07 08:34 AM
A new service sales tax law for Michigan Home Stagers will be taking effect December 1, 2007.  At least that is what the interpretation is at this time that I have been given.  Services like hair cuts will not be taxed, but every other service in a barber shop or hair salon will be.  Get this one, skiing will be taxed, but not golf?  How is there a difference in those two activities?
I would like to hear other thoughts on the new service sales tax law.  Does anyone else know of any details for the Home Staging Industry and Michigan?

Home Staging for 2007. Where will the new year take us? Right now, we are seeing many homes on the market. More home owners are requesting Home Staging to give them the advantage over other homes just like theirs on the market. Is Home Staging going to become a household name in the near future?
