Looks like teh declining housing market is here to stay for awile....and the lenders know it!

housing market: Treasury 10-Year Yield Falls Below 5 Percent! - 07/20/07 05:52 AM
Just a little update...
Treasuries rose, pushing the 10-year note's yield to the lowest in six weeks, on speculation rising subprime mortgage defaults will lead to higher interest rates for private borrowers and curb economic growth.
Ten-year notes gained the most in more than a week and extended their biggest weekly advance since March!
Finally...maybe we'll start to see rates in the 5's again soon!!  Anything to help the housing market!

Treasuries fell, pushing yields on benchmark 10-year notes to the highest level since January, on a sign of housing strength and comments from Federal Reserve policy makers that inflation remains their primary concern. Futures traders pared bets this week that the central bank will lower interest rates after a government report showed the biggest rise in new-home sales in 14 years. Richmond Fed President Jeffrey Lacker said investors may be underestimating the central bank's resolve to lower inflation.
