Grass roofs have been around for centuries, millennia? My home in Litchfield, CT where I lived as a kid had a complete grass roof, and a solar section facing south. My parents were Norwegian, and the huge hunting lodge in Norway that my family owns also has a grass roof to this day. Grass insulates against heat in the summer, and cold in the winter. It absorbs water, decreases run-off (an urban problem), and refreshes the air (another urban issue).
