There are only a few more concerts left this summer at the gazebo in Flower Mound's Parker Square. So don't let the opportunity pass you by! If your visiting here in Texas, it's a fun and relaxing but if you get anxious while waiting for the music to start...there's always shopping! Don't forget the lawn chair or blanket to sit on, the water bottle but most importantly...the battery powered, misting fan! Whoo it's hot. Come celebrate July 4th in Flower Mound Texas. Starting at 11:00 AM, at Timber Creek Elementary School you can line up with a decorated wagon, stroller, bike, trike, whatever you'd like and start marching to kick the day off. The route is short (so the tiny tikes don't get too tired) and ends at the LISD School Administration Building. Once you get there, you'll be greeted with FREE hotdogs, drinks and lots of activities for the kiddos. And for the adults, there's live entertainment! Then...starting about 9:25 PM...The Independence Day Fireworks Show begins! Gates will open at 7 PM for the good seats. texas: Youth Fire Academy in Flower Mound, TX

On August 11 - 14, 2008 the Flower Mound Fire Department will hold a Youth Fire Academy for students that enter the 7th or 8th grade this fall. It runs from 1 to 5 PM at the Central Fire Station located at 3838 Forums Dr. It's a free program designed to introduce them to the world of fire protection and emergency medical services. The class is limited so if you're interested or know someone who might want to join in, get registered by July 7th. If you have any questions contact Ken MacInnes at 972-874-6265.

The Highland Village Fire Department (must say they are a fabulous group of people) conducts monthly courses to residents and non-residents of Highland Village. Training covers CPR for adults, infants, children and AED Training. The next class will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm. The cost is $25.00 for residents and $35.00 for non-residents. You will never know when you might need to use CPR. Space is limited so sign up today. (0 comments)

It's that time of year again! Time for the Highland Village, RED WHITE and BLUE Festival! If you didn't go last year or the years before that, then you must go this year. You won't find a better fire works show ANYWHERE! The festivities start at 7:00 AM with the 1K/5K run. at 9:00 AM starts the Family Fish Out and at 11:30 is the Arbor Day Proclamation. At 5:00 PM the gates open for the music from Wade Bowen and Reckless Kelly. Then of course you have all the bounce houses, face painting etc. And who can forget the food (0 comments)

Growing up on the west side of Fort Worth Texas, I had a recreation center to go to during the summer when my mom was tired of entertaining me. Now Flower Mound is opening one too! There will be activities for everyone of all ages. It is centrally located and the CAC will provide easy access to all residents. Visit the CAC website at www.flower-mound.com/cac for more info. The Flower Mound Library Summer Program is coming soon! Keep the kids busy this summer with reading. The Reading Club starts June 5th for all kids in preschool through middle school. They can join the Reading Jubilee and win prizes for every seven days they read for at least 20 minutes! All high school students and adults can win prizes in Book Bingo and who doesn't love Bingo?! Highland Village Central Fire Station Ribbon Cutting We've been needinga new fire station in Highland Village for a while now. Well, it's finally here and I know the city and the Firemen are really proud of it. The new Central Fire Station, located at 1200 Highland Village Road, is now open. So trot on in there and have a tour. Take the kids and let them toot the horn on the big red engine! texas: "Fallen Soldiers" memorial comes to Lewisville, Texas

Denton County soldiers who were killed in Iraq will be on display at the Lewisville City Hall. The memorial is here December 17th thru 21st. It was designed and built by the veterams Monty Slough and Dee Cork. It's a tribute to nine local men killed in action since 2002. Each of the nine men are recognized with an etched granite tile mounted on the display. The "Fallen Soldier" memorial will be set up at 151 W. Church Street. (0 comments)

Well the controversial Wally world finally opened and I just hadto go. It's definitely not your average Super Center. The outside is constructed of Austin Stone and is highlighted by the 100 year old Pecan tree smack dab in front. You don't see the large "always" sign because it's not there. Neither is the Tire and Lube. That was replaced by a Bike Repair shop. Gotta love that! I have to confess, I was one of the petitioners who didn't want Big Box Retail" in our town. Every year the Highland Village Women's Club and the City organize an event called "Our Village Glows". It's a tree lighting ceremony with local choirs (my 4th grade daughter being one of them!), carolers, cookie decorating and even SANTA! The residents of Highland Village are truly excited about this event and are grateful to our city and Women's Club for getting it together. Come join in the fun! Finally! We can go shopping in the long anticipated Shops at Highland Village. It is now open for business! Located at the northwest corner of FM 2499 and FM 407, shop retail stores, visit restaurants and enjoy services at one location. Some of the shops include Sweet N Sassy, Talbot's, Bath and Body Works and Gymboree to name a few. Rockfish, Snuffers, and Potbelly's are great places to eat. So now that the weather is getting nice, go visit! Not forgetting across FM 2499 is the Marketplace at Highland Village with retail stores and restaurants too. The Highland Village Wal-Mart Supercenter is a fresh, upscale store that will feature an interior design and color scheme that has not been seen in any other Wal-Mart in the country. The open format deli, bakery and produce departments will make for a pleasant shopping experience. The Sushi and deli bar are only some of the exciting features of the new Supercenter. The store will also include a bike and repair shop instead of the Tire and Lube shop so that customers can take advantage of the new service by riding up on the many nearby neighborhood trails. The Flower Mound Fire Department will host the 15th annual Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 13 at Central Fire Station, 3838 Forums Drive. The fun-filled event will include a S.A.F.E Team presentation, a CareFlight helicopter, children's activities, the Fire Safety Trailer, Fire Station tours, fire safety information, displays of fire engines and ambulances, a CERT team demonstration, and plenty of hot dogs, popcorn, and soft drinks.
